About this deal

The materials used in the shuttle and the methods used in the building process play a very important role in the quality of the final product. Consistency I just proves that you need always need to test for yourself. Like you say, some brands have issues with quality and consistency. It’s pretty costly when 3/4 shuttles per tube are faulty. In other words, the true price of the shuttles are 20-25% more than what you paid. Does this make them expensive. The AS-30 was pretty unplayable after 100 clears but it’s definitely in a bad shape after 200 clears and completely unplayable. Overall, not too bad though. Staying in decent shape for the first 50 to 70 clears while also not breaking any feather stems even after 200 clears gives it decent marks. If opened we are unable to accept them as a return, due to the fact they become depressurized after opening the seal.

So, we’re left with the dilemma between paying for consistent flight and a degree of durability compared to inconsistent flight and who knows how long the shuttle will last. Generally I’ve found the cheaper shuttles to be a false economy usually using significantly more in matches. When monitored, these so called cheaper shuttles are certainly not the best value for money. Consistency in speed in one tube can sometimes be a joke. To determine flight and consistency, we will look at tests 1 and 2. To determine durability, we will use tests 3 and 4. The Yonex AS 30 is Yonex's top selling feather shuttle. Its combination of quality production techniques, high grade feathers , long life and mid-range price make it what many consider the best shuttle buy.

They may be equal to lower grade Aerosensa shuttles such as 10 or 20 but they’re not as good as Aerosensa 30, 40 or 50. Before I did the clear test, I measured the AS-50’s feather diameter and cork circumference and I also measured it again at the end. Here are the results:I test all my shuttles before coaching and I’ve not had a bad Yonex shuttle in any batch ever. It’s the only brand I can confidently say this about. The structure, material and the precision with which Yonex Aerosensa AS-30 is created makes it supple, flexible and ensures durability. If you compare Yonex Aerosensa AS-30 with any ordinary grade shuttle, you will realize that Yonex AS-30 survives longer and requires less investment when compared to ordinary shuttles. Similar to the clear test, we also measured AS-30’s feather diameter and cork circumference before and after the smash test. Here are the results: Whether you’re playing club badminton, league badminton, tournament badminton or booking a court with friends, you have to play with the best shuttle for your budget. As Yonex are probably the most expensive brand, this may mean you won’t use them, but they are the best.

The number next to AS-* indicates the performance and quality level, 50 is the best, and 10 is the worst. AEROSENSA 10 (AS-10) AS20 and AS30 are the same, last only 1 game, or sometimes 10 points. I wouldn't say AS30 is better than AS20 in this area because it isn't. Sorry you feel Yonex 30/40 aren’t as good in terms of speed etc. We find them the best on the market here. If I had the choice, I would play and coach with Aerosensa 50 all the time, they are really superb. But, the cost is just too expensive for now. For consistency in flight they were as good as Aerosensa 30, maybe 40, but not 50. Victor were also good. We tested a few for durability which is difficult when they’re incorrect speed. However, they were pretty good, as were Victor although neither lasted as long as Aerosensa 30.The feather diameter decreased by 1.6 cm (.6 in), or 24% after 200 clears as the top of the feathers got damaged and worn out. Whilst I’m just like you and dissatisfied at the colossal increase in the price of feathers, there is one brand that has been consistent in its quality control above all the rest from the dozens of tests I’ve done. No surprises therefore when I name the brand as Yonex. And the feather shuttles are divided into two types: AEROCLUB and AEROSENSA AEROCLUB AEROSENSA AEROSENSA
