About this deal

I was able to print from my Mac before with an Ethernet connection, but now I can't. What should I do?

I see the message Printer is Offline when I try to print with an Ethernet connection in Windows. What should I do?

Go large without piling on the pounds with Epson’s ‘small-in-one’ 13-inch printer, the Epson Expression Photo XP-970

Key specs – Technology: Inkjet; Maximum print resolution: 5,760 x 1,440dpi; Scan specifications: 1,200 x 4,800dpi; Recommended monthly duty cycle: N/S; Dimensions (HWD): 148 x 479‎ x 356mm; Weight: 8.7kg; Maximum paper size: A3 We've divided this guide into two sections. First, we run through regular A4 printers, and then we look at larger A3+ (13-inch) printers. As you might expect, the smaller printers tend to be more affordable, while A3+ printers usually produce prints of higher quality (and bigger size). The option for 2-Sided Printing (Windows) or Two-sided Printing Settings (Mac) is gray or not available. What should I do? When I combined those results with the scores from printing our suite of PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel files containing color, graphics, and photos, the XP-970 churned to a rating of 4ppm. The TS9520 beat that by 0.7ppm, and the ET-7750 was twice as fast as the XP-970. The print quality isn’t up to the extremely high standard of the most expensive photo printers on this list, but still produces impressive-looking results.

The built-in colour screen makes for more intuitive operation and again, as with the pigment-based PRO-300, you can create panoramic prints of up to 990cm in length. Colour output on glossy paper is simply spectacular, easing ahead of Epson’s larger-format 6-ink photo printers, and the Canon also delivers very convincing output for both colour and mono photo prints on matte and fine art media. I tried to install the product's software for an Ethernet connection but cannot complete the installation in Windows or on my Mac. What should I do? Still, the bit we care about here is photo printing, and this is where the XP-970 shines. 10x8in prints emerged in 96 seconds, but the prints were worth the wait, with lifelike colours, excellent tonal range, deep shadows and vibrant greens and reds. 6x4in prints took 10 seconds less to arrive, but could have come straight from a photo lab, while A3 prints took a little longer at 2mins 20secs for a print.Wi-Fi CERTIFIED ™; level of performance subject to the range of the router being used. Wi-Fi Direct may require printer software. I see the message Printer is Offline when I try to print with a wireless connection in Windows. What should I do?

Ease of use is generally a strong point. Epson’s driver interface is on the cluttered side, but the options are logically laid out, and the XP-970’s touchscreen interface makes configuration, copying and scanning a breeze. It is a mite annoying that you have to regularly reassure the printer that it’s finished a print job or selected the right sort of paper in the tray – but even that’s better than other printers that give you too little information and no indication as to why a job just failed. I can print with a wireless connection on my home network but not on a VPN (virtual private network). What should I do?Multifunction printers, or MFPs, have a built-in scanner and can operate as a printer, a scanner and a copier. Many A3 printers come with all these functions, particularly if they’re designed for an office or home office. However, make sure your MFP has the right size scanner for your needs, as some cheaper A3 MFPs only have A4 scanner beds; if you want to make A3 scans as well as prints, you’ll need a model with an A3 scanner. I was able to print from my Mac before with a wireless connection, but now I can't. What should I do?
