Introductions and attempts at almost universally contrived character development fall flat, and remind you that there are precious few characters to still care about in this universe The incredibly fancy (and, truth be told, a little more expensive) Steelbook format is the only choice for those needing a physical media release that doubles as a table tennis bat in a pinch. If that's you, [...] to remember T'Challa and, by proxy, Boseman, and the opening minutes are touching and tasteful; a more fitting remembrance could not haveSonic elements fall flat without depth and intensity. Neither action nor music have much body to them, and there's not much vigor in volume, either. Passing the Mantle (1080p, 5:50): Exploring character evolutions in this film, with focus through the prism of losing the T'Challa well-balanced surround wrap, but not a lot of body. The overhead channels are not often engaged with discrete content, instead offering a bit of layered present with commendable definition. Color reproduction is very good, with impressively bold primaries and good depth and realism to earthier tones. Ryan Coogler deftly navigates why the villain Namor believes he is right in his actions, similar to how Michael B. Jordan portrayed and acted on his anger and vengeance with his amazing performance as Killmonger. Not only does Wakanda Forever showcase what Wakanda has been up to over the past couple of years, but it also touches the history and realizations of the ancient underwater species known as the Talokan. It's easy to see why Namor and his people want to remain anonymous, but Coogler allows for some different takes and twists that would make the audience happier this time around in regard to how everything plays out. And it works well and leaves a ton of elements up for exploration in future films.

In terms of the parents guide, you can expect moderate superhero violence to be the main point of concern. Coogler, Feige, hell nobody could hope to incorporate that much into one single movie, particularly not given the current state of affairs with the MCU, which continues to struggle to show a clear sense of direction across its latest Phase(s). Wakanda Forever's ability to mourn Boseman so respectfully, and focus on the characters so intimately, is completely at odds with its later Big Bang nonsense, and as its core members gets respectively promoted into bigger, more VFX-driven suits, the movie loses something in the process, and suddenly reveals its devastating weakness: you just don't care enough about any of these people - particularly not the newly introduced/promoted ones - and certainly not enough to give a damn when their CG superhero alter-egos go to war.
