This tent had only been used the times for a couple of nights each in nice weather. When I pitched it and it rained out did not cope with half a days rain and leaked within an hour. The CLR, or Colour range of tents from Vango are a step forward in the use of recycled and repurposed materials. The coloured trims around the doors, along the pole sleeves or guyline points are offcuts from the manufacturing process which would have previously ended up in landfill. Vango have specially sourced these offcuts and guarantee the performance of the fabrics to meet their high standards. Factory taped seams - All flysheet and groundsheet seams are factory taped, giving a water tight seal Linked-in Groundsheet in the porch area, to create a sealed section ideal for living space, and storage purposes.

I'm not going to add lots of detail as previous reviewers have covered all. I agree that its a good little tent, however there are design issues: Lights-out Inner - Helps reduce early morning light in your bedroom whilst still being breathable to ensure a good night sleep With regard to a tent’s old enemy – condensation – this model provides about two inches of air space between the inner bedroom’s breathable polyester inner and the flysheet. Bedroom ventilation, meanwhile, is provided by two small portholes on either side of the rear. No, it’s not ideal during the day when it’s especially hot, but the ports work fine at night without letting in too much cold air.All in all, for the price paid this is a steal. I do a lot of research when buying outdoor gear and this came out on top for cost/quality/versatility. There are tents with exactly the same design and materials with more 'prestigious' branding that sell for at least double the price of the Vango. (They will doubtless be from the same factory I suspect). Yes, you can continue to return items as normal as long as you follow the government guidelines about leaving your house. My biggest concern is that, like Bongomagic, our tent leaked on its first outing in exactly the same place. I was really disappointed with this and surprised given Vango's reputation. We have had the flysheet replaced and I'm now anxious about the replacement, we'll be testing it next week (although not exactly hoping for rain!).

The pod doesn't fit a double and single airbed comfortably and one person will have to use the porch area of that set up used. As alluded to above, this model requires pitching the outer fly sheet first and then the inner groundsheet and bedroom compartment. Despite this, I found it was really easy to put up though I did require a second pair of hands when it came to installing the colour-coded PowerFlex fibreglass poles. This tent has long been a favourite for family, weekend and group camping and now the inner tent has been darkened further with Vango's new "Nightfall Bedroom" inner tent to reduce the amount of early morning light so that you can have a little lie in while you are enjoying your camping trip!

The Beta XL range has very generous porch areas with linked in groundsheet, spacious sleeping section and outer first or all in one pitching, to keep your sleeping area protected from the rain making it ideal for family getaways or a few days camping with friends. As I’ve already pointed out, I managed to avoid inclement weather during my test though I do feel very confident about the Beta 550XL’s 3,000 HH waterproof rating, which is a lot better than most cheaper weekend tents.
