About this deal

The Story is an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel. There are no verse references, and Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. For those intimidated or overwhelmed by the unabridged Bible, The Story helps people understand God’s Word more fully and engage with it more easily. After the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot was afraid to stay in Zoar and so he and his two daughters resettled into the hills, living in a cave. [16] The elder daughter, seeing that there were no men to marry, told the younger that they should instead sleep with their father to continue their lineage. To this end, they plied Lot with wine until he was too drunk to know what he was doing. The elder then lay with her father without his knowing. She then insisted that her sister do the same - which she duly did on the following day. From these incestuous unions, the older daughter conceived Moab (Hebrew מוֹאָב, lit., "from the father" [meh-Av]), father of the Moabites; [17] while the younger conceived Ben-Ammi (Hebrew בֶּן-עַמִּי, lit., "Son of my people"), father of the Ammonites. [18] I'm glad I listened to the whole thing and got a glimpse of the entire Bible as a story. It's not a foreign concept by any means, but since it's so long, it was nice to go through a shorter, condensed version. That said, it definitely didn't cover the entire Bible as in every single book or chapter, but I think it was a good overview.

Tim: Yeah. Humanity now faces a choice that’s represented by a fruit tree. So humans could partner with God and find freedom by trusting in his knowledge of good and evil.According to the text, it was written around 95 A.D. on an island off the coast of Turkey. Some scholars believe it is less a prophecy and more a response to the Roman destruction of the Great Temple and Jerusalem.

Tim: Yeah. God promises that from them will come a new people, a nation that has another chance to make the right choice. And if they succeed, it will open up this new way forward for the rest of humanity.

Lowenthal, Anne W. (1988) "Lot and His Daughters as Moral Dilemma", in The Age of Rembrandt: Studies in Seventeenth-century Dutch Painting, Volume 3 of Papers in Art History from the Pennsylvania State University, eds. Roland E. Fleischer, Susan Scott Munshower. Penn State Press. ISBN 978-0915773022 A story bible is a place to hold all of our planning for the novel. Everything we create for the book can go into the story bible: concept, setting, character descriptions, potential plot conflicts, and developing scenes. The story bible can hold all of the tiny pieces of information we want to include in our novel such as dialogue fragments, phrases, and cultural references. Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Kazuo Ishiguro “compiles folders of notes and flow charts that lay out not just the plot but also more subtle aspects of the narrative, such as a characters emotions or memories. He collects his notes in binders and writes a first draft by hand.” Once I got used to the things that bothered me (see "first impressions" below), it wasn't too bad. I still wish it had been more than the NIV, more descriptive, more "current," but it's obviously a Zondervan thing, so I'll have to wish for Tyndale or Eugene Peterson to copy the idea (if they haven't already, I honestly have no idea). Abraham took care of Lot after Haran was burned in a gigantic fire in which Nimrod, King of Babylon, tried to kill Abraham. However, I will admit the book saves itself somewhat by organizing itself chronologically. Especially in the Old Testament section, "The Story" did well at presenting the history of Israel, then including the relevant prophets words concerning that event. I, for one, find it very hard to keep this kind of context clear when reading the Old Testament prophets, so this aspect was a great help in getting the overall picture.Tim: Well the prophets said that the story wasn’t over. God’s going to send a new leader to Israel to cover for their failures and to transform the people’s hearts and minds so that they can make the right choice.

Lot ( / l ɒ t/; Hebrew: לוֹט Lōṭ, lit. "veil" or "covering"; [1] Greek: Λώτ Lṓt; Arabic: لُوط Lūṭ; Syriac: ܠܘܛ Lōṭ) was a man in the biblical Book of Genesis, chapters 11–14 and 19. Notable events in his life include his journey with his uncle Abram ( Abraham); his flight from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, during which Lot's wife became a pillar of salt; and him being intoxicated by his daughters so they could have incestuous intercourse with him to continue their family line. [2] Biblical account [ edit ] The Book of Revelation is the final book of the Bible, an example of apocalyptic literature that predicts a final celestial war through prophecy. Authorship is ascribed to John, but little else is known about the writer. The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” Jon: This is a story about humans using their power to do meaningful, life-giving work. But the question is how? Rebellion and Fallout [00:51-01:35] Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: ( AF) seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds. ( AG)” And it was so. ( AH) 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds ( AI) and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. ( AJ) 13 And there was evening, and there was morning ( AK)—the third day.The King James Bible is possibly the most widely-known edition of the Bible, though in England it is known as the “Authorized Version.”
