Simone saw a counsellor as part of her recovery, who advised her that writing was an effective and healthy way of offloading and confronting problems, rather than burying them.

It covers many taboo topics including addiction, abortion, adoption, infertility, loss, grief, mental health issues, dysfunctional families, infidelity, rape, abuse and violence. It's a different and difficult read for the ones who have experienced any such traumas however it's very relatable as the author has discussed each incident in the story with carefully chosen and heartfelt words. Raised in Singapore in a very traditional family, she grew up believing there was a clear path differentiating the "right" way and the "wrong" way to live. However, her life was thrown off course when she got pregnant as a teen. The decision to save face should have been ingrained in her, but things weren't actually that simple. Feeling for the baby she carried, she had to choose between her future or the child's.I love deep, heart-wrenching memoirs...and this one does not disappoint! Simone Warren bears her soul and opens every vulnerability to reveal a past shrouded in shame and heartbreak. Through it all, she comes out more compassionate and understanding regarding the connectedness of all people. EVERYTHING I needed was in this book. It pulled me out of my bookish slump that we all surely had after Fourth Wing. I could not find a single book that fully helped me recover from such an amazing book but here we are with The Wrong Wife. Knight Warren gave me major Xaden Riorson vibes. Both have this iron steel front but the second they're with the right person you just know. That wall is slowly and slowly crumbling and as much as they don't like it happening, it still does. If you like listening to music whilst reading then you should be happy to know that throughout this book there are QR Codes which you can scan to listen to the right song at the right time.
