About this deal

This was a cookie cutter romcom that fit every box, it was emotional, romantic, there's some miscommunication trope (twice to 3 times), sex after 60%, a little bit of a slow-burn and a happy ending.

Declan legit could have been talking about this book bcos yes, he and Iris did the same exact thing constantly again and again, just like that damn tv show. but unlike Iris, i couldn’t read any more without getting bored. well, bored is an understatement. There’s nothing in the world I’ll find more beautiful than her. Not the sun. Not the moon. Not even the entire galaxy compares to the light she radiates wherever she goes.” Having the couple from the first book pop in was great too. I loved that the author didn’t just shove them aside and allows us to see glimpses of their life and how they interact with others. I also love that Iris is the best friend of Cal, the middle brother and MMC in the third book. It was interesting seeing their dynamic play out along with the romance for Declan and Iris. It did a great job of further setting up Cal’s character for when you move into the next book which was great planning by the author. Jump in Iris his ever faithful, unfaltering assistant of three years. Only does she know what she is signing up for by suggesting to marry Declan for him to achieve his CEO dream and to have a child with him. There will be rules, terms and conditions attached to the arrangement. Talk about her like that again and I swear I’ll make your last twelve months as CEO absolutely miserable.”

Let’s get this small annoyance out of the way first. Chapter 2 (Declan) and Chapter 3 (Iris); They are already going on and on about how they get warm and fuzzy over a laugh, and how they are trying to keep their feelings to a minimum. ‘I shouldn’t touch her like this, it blurs to many lines’.

i will tell you why this book exhausted me so much— the contradictions. the first one being, this is supposed to be a slowburn. and it is... in a way. but the insta-lust definitely undermines the slowburn aspect – like they kiss for the first time around the 20% mark?

Please tell me you didn’t just say the favorite thing about your husband, the love of your life, is his anxiety, which showed because he was waiting for your approval and he’s scared you’re gonna run again because he thinks that he’s unloveable. Literally his own words. Unlovable. How is this romantic. The boys lost their mom and hate their dad, if they don't meet those requirements, their dad will get the majority of the shares and they don't want that. just like the first book in the series, lauren asher's writing effortlessly sweeps you away into a world that is both straightforward and utterly addictive. the slow burn is nothing short of extraordinary, leaving me utterly enthralled from start to finish. i must commend her once again for her brilliant inclusion of dyslexia within the narrative, a touch that adds depth and authenticity to the story. the drama ? Idk this book just annoyed me . I could tell which moments I was supposed to swoon and go “awwww” but that’s not what happened . It felt immature for some reason and the writing style was so off . I don’t know if it was just too formal but it was evidently bad .There was a whole lot of cringe and eye roll moments I’ve always prided myself on the ability to remove my emotions from any kind of business decision.”
