About this deal

As individuals, we have the power to drive significant change by making informed choices and supporting sustainable fashion brands. Whether through recycling old shirts, embracing slow fashion, or advocating for ethical practices, each step we take contributes to a more sustainable and compassionate world. However, we feel that the concept expressed by those 3 additional Rs are already included in the previous ones. Also, we feel that making this list too long may make it more difficult to keep in mind by the public and even become confusing as there is not a universally accepted list of the supposed 9 Rs. For these reasons, we decided to concentrate our article on the 6 Rs rather than the apparently more “complete” 9 Rs list. Repair means that, if something is broken, you should first consider repairing it instead of replacing it with a new product. Ask yourself: can I or someone else fix this? Try to use products for as long as you can and dispose of them only if there’s really nothing else you can do. This is the essence of “repair”, the fifth of the 6 Rs of sustainability. “Repair” is one of the last steps you should consider, and only after you already did “rethink”, “refuse”, “reduce”, “reuse” an item.

The next time you will go to the supermarket bring with you a reusable bag and refuse a single-use one. When people hear the three Rs they usually just remember the slogan from their childhood without giving much thought to its origin.

Author profiles:

Since Earth Day in 1970, schoolchildren have heard the mantra “reduce, reuse, recycle” as the solution for the growing problem of consumer waste. One could argue that the slogan has worked remarkably well. In the U.S., according to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average consumer generated 2.7 pounds of trash each day in 1960 — and 2.5 pounds of that went straight to the landfill. Over the next 20 years, per capita waste generation grew 37 percent, to 3.7 pounds per person, but thanks to increased recycling and energy recovery techniques, discards to landfills increased only 29 percent, to 3.2 pounds, and, more importantly, hit a peak. From 1980 to 2000, U.S. landfill discards actually decreased by 19 percent, even though waste generation continued to grow, to 4.7 pounds per person per day. Over the last decade, the reduce and reuse parts of the slogan have shown signs of catching on, as per capita waste generation has declined to 4.5 pounds per day, and the volume going into U.S. landfills is now less on a per capita basis than it was 50 years ago. Europe has, if anything, made even more progress. In a world where sustainability and eco-consciousness are becoming increasingly important, the reCycle reUse reNew reThink Shirt offers a unique blend of humor and environmental awareness. By wearing this shirt, individuals can join a growing movement of people dedicated to making a difference, one laugh at a time. The importance of “reuse”: it plays a vital role in the 6 Rs of sustainability, so much so that it is also part of the shorter 3 Rs to save the environment list!

insights on social media or through conversations with friends and family. Highlight the environmental and social benefits of sustainable fashion and showcase how it aligns with a conscious and responsible lifestyle. We live on a wonderful planet, but with the impending dangers caused by climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity and the risk of depleting natural resources, many of us have the same goal in mind: to reduce the environmental footprint of humanity and have a more sustainable lifestyle. Engaging in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects allows you to upcycle old shirts and transform them into unique, personalized pieces. From tie-dye techniques to embroidery and fabric painting, the possibilities are endless. Embracing DIY fashion not only enhances your creativity but also reduces textile waste. 9. Eco-Friendly Laundry: Caring for Your Sustainable Shirts The 32-year-old's post has gained more than 442,000 likes, with Brianna tagging the shop in the caption and said: "On a child's shirt... really?!?!".Sometimes organic is more expensive. Realise that it’s only expensive in the short term. In the long run, it will be healthier for you, our children, and the planet because the soil is preserved and not damaged with harmful pesticides, herbicides and insecticides for the sake of volume and price. As much as you and I may live on a budget, cheaper is not always better. By supporting organic producers, we keep them in business, enabling them to bring more purity to the consumer and keep our soils healthy for the future. Also fun, invest in some seeds and basic materials and start growing food and making cosmetics yourself! Rethink on what matters Where does your food come from? Do you know its source? The source is not the supermarket. It’s the soil and the water that determines the quality of the food. Rethink food recommendations. Who sponsors the food advice you’re reading? Is there maybe a financial gain involved? Do you know what’s in your processed food? Would your grandma say it’s food? Consider and explore alternatives for the sake of your own and the planet’s health. Rethink waste

Reduce the energy consumption of your house: for example, you can start with simple things like replacing that broken light bulb with a new long lasting and energy efficient LED light. The next time that you have to go to a store just down the road, just go on foot or cycle instead of taking the car. Your health will also benefit as well.

British users were also confused about George being available outside of the UK, with one user asking: "George isn't just Asda?!" We know that refusing something can be difficult, but you don’t have to start with something that you really want. For example, you can start saying no to small things you don’t really mind about. Then you can slowly build up from there: things are easier once you already started on this path.
