About this deal

Then when he said he loves her, she said it is only because he is afraid of losing her, and leave his house. Until we share a kiss that makes the world stand still, and I begin to wonder…maybe I’ve misread him all along. That's maybe a little unfair to Mark. While he is over-the-top possessive and sometimes cruel to his beautiful wife, his behavior stems from a deep hurt that happened early on in their marriage. Travel and tell no one, live a true love story and tell no one, live happily and tell no one, people ruin beautiful things.

I have read some rumors that h was going to have a bf in the next book. Probably the hot divorce lawyer that we met in this book. I’m here for it. There is a scene where H kissed h in front of this lawyer. He acts like a caveman. She and her best friend have had a strange relationship for 4 years. Basically boyfriend/girlfriend without a real relationship. She’s on a shelf, and well, he is not. This may annoy some readers but honestly, it feels necessary to the storyline. Cole is DEFINITELY Mason’s more risqué character, and I LOVE that she wasn’t afraid to showcase sexual desires in this book. (I WISH you could see my highlights, but alas, I will not be sharing them with you 😉) Cole is stubborn and delusional when it comes to his own feelings. He’s had a rough example of what “love” looks like. Which was incredibly relatable for me. I believe my definition of "kinky" and BookTok's definition have a bit of a... difference of opinion.

Livy has been in love with her best friend Cole for years, but he’s never looked at her that way. So, she decides to ask him to take her V-card with no strings attached. Normally, I’m not an ARC reader, but received this one through a FB giveaway. And was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, particularly since I avoid anything NA like the plague. His reason for cheating has more to do with him thinking she didn’t love him than her actual affair And then they on the beach getting sand up their butthole and other places but he slips his eggplant in and she's like OOP! And he's like OOPY-OOP! That be a hymen!

The author does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of being raised in purity culture. At no point did I think he was redeemable or likeable and I don't think she should've ended up with him at all. This should've ended with her single and going to her last year of college. Don’t do this. I’m begging you.” The words are broken and stuttered. “No, no, no. You can’t… I won’t…” Anything,” I choke out. “I can answer to you from now on. You’re in charge. And you can do absolutely anything you want with our money.” I would have liked some balance and maybe more focus on the actual couple rather than getting away from purity culture

I've been flippant about "safe" books recently. To be honest, I’ve been in the mood to read marriage-in-crisis angst books without ow-om/d. Unfortunately, majority *do* have that 😭. I did find this through a tiktok the author made to promote the book.

I don’t need to tell you that his explanations are only excuses. That his threats are very common for abuser, threats of killing themselves, to kill their wife, they do that. I’ve been in love with Cole Walker since the first day he walked into class and sat beside me. How could I not? Six foot five, gorgeous, and a sweetheart to boot. He’s charming enough to get any girl he wants. She needs space so he gives it to her. Then when they meet up an unspecified amount of time later he tries to explain and apologize. She’s exceptionally angry that he didn’t believe she was a virgin before their first time and he’d told people “she’s probably lying” about it. (An ex of hers had lied and told H that they had had sex once before they broke up). She accuses him of being an actor and now she cant trust anything he says or does. I don’t know if I’m more angry or disappointed. If the following book will have an happy ending, the only happy ending possible here I will read it and I will give more stars. Here I couldn’t even feel the angst. This behavior is not normal of an angry person who feels betrayed by the love of his life. A normal person would be angry, would go away, shout, would also do wrong things but it will always be in a definite short period of time. My love for her has always been dark and twisted like this—even before it became hate-filled love—but it’s never waned. [...] That scent. It’s her. This book should be used as a how-to on taking all heat and spontaneity from sex and intimacy in a romance. Straight cringe. As always, her characters are real. Their problems are real. They live like normal people. So it’s so easy to fall in love with her writing. But when I tell Cole my request, his reaction is not what I expect. He’s furious and over-the-top protective. He won’t touch me, but apparently, no one else can either. It doesn’t make any sense.

Yet she married him. To add insult to injury she married him on the rebound! knowing he was obsessed with her. On top of THAT she had an emotional AND physical affair with the love of her life, her ex fiancé. FROM 7 YEARS AGO!!!!!Why? She SAYS it’s because she was depressed but she contradicts herself so I call bullshit. She knows how easy it was to be with the om so it was natural that they had an affair because “we [h and om] were engaged…” A Jane Bennet style FMC whose tragic flaw is that she gives too much of herself and doesn't ask for what she wants. Watching her overcome this is SO satisfying! My only real complaint is the story pacing feels a little off and the ending is definitely rushed. The giveaway epilogue really needs to be part of the storyline to pull it all together. Since I’ve literally slain the only other book I’ve read of this author, I was feeling a lil bit guilty and I’ve decided to give her another try. Also, the way everyone gets involved and acts like she's so innocent and they have to treat her like she's glass - ewwww And similarly, with the h and her arc, the story started off at a point where she wanted to break out of that 'purity' mindset- but we didn't get to see ANY of the initial thought processes behind it, but were rather thrust into 'the big epiphany of her character'- which legitimately took away from the whole concept behind this book? Kinks are thrown in at random in the cheesiest most awkward way possible. No depth at all. It’s got it all… and not a single one is done well or organically, it’s all talked to death and the hero is already a card carrying expert as he’s sexed literally all the people in all the ways dozens of times. Nothing at all is exclusive to the MCs. Nothing.
