About this deal

Employs an optical vibration reduction function with an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 5.5 stops faster, which is the highest among NIKKOR Z lenses. While some popular Sigma lenses had initial issues with the FTZ adapter, many of the biggest problems have been fixed with firmware updates. Here’s how they stand now. While my Canon EOS R expertly corrects distortion in all my old Canon EF lenses introduced since about 1990, and even shows me these corrections live in the viewfinder as I'm composing, my Nikon Z7 is inferior.

MELVILLE, NY (October 28, 2021) – Today, Nikon announced new NIKKOR Z zoom lenses that let creators get closer to the action and fill the frame with astounding clarity. The NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S and the NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S are Nikon’s latest S-line lenses, giving discerning photographers premium optics and ultimate versatility. Additionally, the new Mount Adapter FTZ II is a streamlined solution to seamlessly adapt F-mount lenses with the integrated vertical grip on the new Nikon Z 9. As with the original FTZ, you get full compatibility with autofocus, exposure control and optical VR (Vibration Reduction) for all of Nikon’s AF-P and AF-S lenses. Nikon says that AE (Auto Exposure) shooting is available for 360 Nikkor F-mount lenses from the older AI type onwards, and AF/AE works with 94 AF-P, AF-S and AF-I lenses. With no tripod mount protrusion, the FTZ II doesn’t restrict access to the Z 9 camera’s integral, vertical grip. Large, heavy lenses tend to have their own tripod mounting collars anyway. (Image credit: Nikon) Verdict Shooting with AE is possible with approx. 360 types of NIKKOR F lens from AI type onwards, while shooting with AF/AE is available with 94 types of AF-P/AF-S/AF-I lenses.Choose your ideal used lens and camera from our selection above or get in touch with our experts. My Z7 does not show the effects of distortion correction as I'm composing as the EOSR does, and worse, the Z7 often only partially corrects the distortion of lenses on the FTZ adapter. The Nikon FTZ and FTZII are lens mount adapters that let us use any F-Mount Nikon SLR or DSLR lens with varying extents of usefulness on Nikon's full-frame mirrorless cameras. We’ll start with Nikon-brand lenses, most of which are at least partly compatible with the FTZ adapter. Here’s where they stand. AI‑P lenses are probably the best lenses next to AF‑S and AF‑P to use with the FTZ as they don't lose any features and work even better on mirrorless than they ever did on film. Before Nikon moved to internal focus motors it utilized a screw-drive system for autofocus. These AF and AF-D lenses are still compatible with many SLRs, and while you can use them with the FTZ, they'll be restricted to manual focus. Focal length becomes 560 mm with NIKKOR Z teleconverter TC-1.4×, 800 mm with NIKKOR Z teleconverter TC-2.0×. Manual-focus AI‑P lenses like the 45mm f/2.8 AI-P work about the same as old AF lenses from the 1980s: they are manual focus with full EXIF communication and exposure control. Also note that Nikon has stated that the following lenses are incompatible with the FTZ adapter, and attempting to mount them could damage either the adapter or the lens:
