About this deal

This has been loosely covered in other sections of this guide, but it’s worth going into a bit more detail. The holes were about the width of a golf ball and sometimes a little deeper. I found that were two ways to deal with them: I have genuine concerns about the longevity of this product and I doubt it will hold up well to abuse.

This old school weed puller works well and we have to say it certainly feels like the most durable of all the garden weed pullers we’ve tested. Straight out of the box I was impressed with the quality. It has a good weight to it, with a solid wooden handle. The stainless steel blade is engraved with measurements, which was a really useful touch. The total length is just 33 cm, part of which is taken up by the handle.I can see why some folks really like this weed puller – I found that removing weeds couldn’t have been easier. I placed the device onto the weed and pressed down on the pedal with my foot until the claws were as deep as possible. Garden hoe also includes two tools at once – a boot and a rake. It consists of a straight steel blade with a sharp (or blunt) edge on one end and 2-3 teeth on the other end. It is successfully used for the removal of weeds between rows of plants that grow very close. Also, it is suitable for clearing and leveling the soil before planting, pelletizing, loosening. It is equipped with a short wooden or plastic handle; With a telescopic shaft and a D-shaped handle, this weeder is one of the most comfortable and versatile available. You can adjust the handle length from 99-109cm, offering a good range of lengths to suit people of varying heights – just adjust the knob at the centre of the handle to adjust the length. Of course, there is always the old-fashioned way of pulling weeds by hand. But if you’re looking for a more efficient way to remove those pesky plants, then you’ll need to invest in a weed puller tool. You’ll need a method that doesn’t involve digging into the earth to clear weeds from gaps between stones or paths. A dibber is a safe choice to use in this case.

Accidental damage or misuse is not covered. For example damage caused by crushing, incorrectly fitted section or impact damage would not be considered for replacement. It removes weeds from the roots with minimal damage to the lawn. The compact size makes it ideal for flower beds, as you can get in between your plants to remove the growing weeds without doing any damage. I also tested it on my lawn, and it was equally effective. This weeder is another good option for deep-rooted weeds like dandelions and thistles, especially those invading your lawn. That said, it is versatile enough to be suitable for all kinds of weeds, removing all the legwork needed when weeding your garden.Overall given that this model is telescopic, I still feel it’s stands up to the standard version and a super buy – most people seem to take preference with this model over the standard too so makes sense. The Fiskars Xact Weed Puller is made from fibreglass, plastic and metal and there are plenty of moving parts, including three of the claws. We’ll go into more depth about the different types of weeding tools below, but both hand-weeding knives and claw weeders can effectively remove the taproots of bigger weeds like dandelions. Of course, there are also weeding tools that aren’t capable of removing long rooted weeds, so you need to choose carefully depending on what you require. Another thing to note is that the bristles are very tough. For this reason, I opted not to use it on our new patio in our garden, instead opting for the driveway. I would be concerned that it could damage the grout if used too vigorously, so care is definitely required. The first thing I noticed was the quality. With a wooden handle and a neat ‘Newman and Cole’ engraving, this weed brush felt thoughtfully designed from the start. The bristles are seriously heavy duty, made from wire. The working length is 120 cm, so it can be used fully from standing.

A weeder with a telescoping handle is a fun touch that can be used by many members of your family easily. This is another weeding tool with an almost unbelievably simple design. You can imagine gardeners using this tool 100 years ago, and I’m sure we will still be using these tools in 100 years’ time! Manual Weed Pullers: These are the most basic type of weed puller tools and usually consist of a long handle with a forked end. You simply insert the tool into the soil next to the weed and then use the leverage to pull the weed out of the ground. Make sure the stand-up weeder has a sturdy, padded handle so you can function comfortably over long periods of time. A torque bar and a footpad should be used with stand-up pullers to aid in pushing the weapon into the dirt. A great aspect of this type of weeder is just how easy it is to use. Little effort is required to use the weeder, with most featuring a long-reach design that eliminates the need to bend over or kneel to reach the weeds.

Since I last reviewed this they made a big upgrade that has significantly improved the model, shooting it into a third sport for long handled garden weeders – especially with it’s lifetime guarantee! The Newer model is basically stronger and more durable at pulling and holding weeds. And it shows, it’s rated half a star higher at 4.5 now as opposed to the old one that was only 4.

Unlike the Xact weed puller, this weeding tool has been designed for patios. It has a hooked end that allows you to hook onto weeds growing between paving slabs, as well as a blade on the other side for precise removal. Gardena claims that this weeder can be used to remove grass, moss and weeds, leaving behind clean paving joints. There are many different types of weed pullers on the market. Some are manual and some are powered by batteries or electricity.Given that dandelion roots can grow as deep as 8 inches, I don’t think watering the lawn to soften up the ground is viable unless you have a tiny garden. Otherwise, it would be best to wait until there’s been a day or two of rain. If you live in the UK, I doubt you’ll have to wait long! It Only Works in Lawns and Flowerbeds
