The newest version of the legendary Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite NXT again takes home high honors in the ultralight category. The most current version of this pad gained some extra warmth and shaved off a few ounces. Plus, it's now considerably quieter than previous versions — light sleepers who couldn't handle the crinkling sound from this pad can now sleep soundly.

This ultralight Thermarest inflatable mattress is, as far as self-inflating sleeping pads go, the smallest sleeping pad on the market. Unrivaled in terms of convenience, the Pro Lite comes in a range of three sizes (short, long, and regular) and each size is a different price meaning you can save some money if you need a small sleeping pad.I touched on the Static V2’s comfort in the “design” section, but I will cover comfort and stability in more detail here.

I don't know if this is a new change for all Klymit pads, but the "patch kit" for the Insulated Static V Luxe is just a piece of gear tape. My old 2011 Static V "patch kit" is glue + a patch that looks like the actual material of the pad. I have never needed to use my old patch kit, but I presume the gear tape is not as good/permanent fix as the old patch kit. This sleeping pad is the lightest 4-season pad we've ever seen while also being the warmest in our lineup Klymit's Static V insulated sleeping mat is mid weight rather then ultralight, but for the extra weight you get a mat with a robust face fabric, a really decent R-Value and quite a comfortable nights sleep. At 6cm deep it offers a good level of comfort, especially compared to self inflating models.In a few nice naps on the Klymaloft, I did find it very comfortable. The foam is soft under the weight of my upper body. And where my legs dangle off the foam, the air tubes provide plenty of support.

Conclusion

For complete transparency, this is a very early first look, and due to COVID-19, I haven’t yet taken this pad into the field for a good overnight camping experience. I’ll update the story with more in-depth review material once I have a chance to do so.
