About this deal

Along with this magnificent boxed set, you can also get dice sets for the two kill teams. Surely, the Chaos/Aeldari gods (delete as appropriate) will smile upon your rolls if you’re using the correct dice? The Corsairs dice have the symbol of the Eldritch Raiders on the ‘6’ ( Prince Yriel ’s buddies) while the Chaos Space Marines feature a Legionary helmet. It contains rules for the following Kill Teams (the list notes in parenthesis when a Kill Team has had an update in an expansion or article):

As I said above, the previous Kill Team boxed release Octarius box had far more in it than the Chalnath box does. Here’s a blow-by-blow comparison of the two boxes: If you’ve seen the 40k Kommandos datasheet you’ll remember how annoying it is, with six different bullet points of different gear to make sure that if you built the cool options for specialists in Kill Team, everything had specific rules that conformed to exactly what’s in the kit. Judging by the new Novitiates datasheet released on Warhammer Community, someone may have realised this was getting a little out of hand – they have stuff they can take, sure, but the Kill Team Specialists here have a lot going on – there’s a trainee Dialogus, one with neural whips, one with an Eviscerator, a big old mace/censer, a condemnor boltgun, some duelling blades. The rules team have resisted the urge to translate this into 40k terms, and the Novitiates in that game can take a few bits of gear, but most of it gets rolled up into “autoguns” or “Novitiate melee weapons.” This is an incredibly sensible decision; you can build the stuff you want to play Kill Team and not find your squad is useless for 40k because you put 100pts of upgrades on a 75pt unit. We’ll have to wait and see if this plays out on the T’au side, with their new codex trailed for “early next year” on Warhammer Community this week, and we might end up seeing some of their upgrades integrated into a new 40k datasheet – the Medical Technican and Transpectral Interference Pathfinders both have shades of the Helix Adept/Comms Array guys from their sort-of equivalents, Infiltrators – but it’s nice to see a bit of restraint exercised here. Sometimes you just want to use your guys (or girls) without each one having a slightly different gun or extra thing they do.

Any six-sided dice will do for Kill Team, but it's a scientific fact that having themed dice for your chosen faction will roll better than a random assortment of dice. Currently, dice have been released for the Octarius, Chalnath, Nachmund, and Moroch kill teams, the Death Korps of Krieg, Ork Kommandos, Tau Pathfinders, Adepta Sororitas Novitiates, Chaos Space Marine Legionary, Aeldari Corsair Voidscarred, Militarum Traitoris Blooded, and Space Marine Phobos Strike Team. Kill Team Unit Boxed Sets Free actions can only be performed when another rule specifies. Each time an operative would perform a free action, the following rules apply. So, if you want to start playing the game, but you’re not particularly fond of either of the teams in the starter set, you’re better off buying a Core Book, the book with rules for your preferred Kill Team, the models for your team and an Essentials box. Not only that, you’re also going to have to wait. If the Kill Team Roadmap which was released a few months ago is to be believed, these rules releases are probably going to come in pairs every quarter (i.e. the DKoK and Orks that came in Octarius, and now the Adepta Sororitas and T’au in Chalnath), so there’s a good chance the rules for your favourite faction won’t appear until well into the future and will require you to spend even more money to obtain them. This rulebook collects all the rules and content related to the Gallowdark season of Kill Team. Apart from a slightly expanded campaign system, it doesn’t contain anything that hasn’t been released in other publications during the season.

This month’s White Dwarf joins in with the Kill Team fun with a set of rules for fielding Harlequins in the skirmish combat game. There are also 18 Kill Team Tac Ops cards, a Total War: Warhammer III poster, new Warhammer Age of Sigmar rules for the Blades of Khorne , and much more!

There’s only one book in Kill Team: Chalnath, so we’ll spend a little time going over that now. We’ll keep it brief and not too in-depth, though, so we won’t spoil too much of what waits inside should any of you be eager readers. Kill Team: Chalnath War Manual Phobos Kill Team – the first bespoke Space Marine kill team, but consists of already released models and a pretty bland upgrade sprue. Fun to play, though – our guide is on its way. That’s it for this week – so head to the Games Workshop webstore now to form your teams and start the killing! And make sure that you’re signed up to our newsletter so you never miss any future releases.

Die-hard Kill Team fans and veterans, this is a box for you. Expensive though it may be, Kill Team: Chalnath is a promising step towards a bright future for Games Workshop expansion content. Sure, there are some fiddly bits amidst the models and scenery, but the end results can’t be argued with. As a box of miniatures alone, this would be an impressive (albeit pricey) release, but that it comes with all the literary content you require to take your games of the new edition of Kill Team to the next level makes Chalnath an excellent release. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Introduction If I were to create a symmetric Incursion board with this terrain for competitive play, it might look something like this: This Killzone Upgrade contains all the Shadowvaults-specific scenery from the Shadowvaults expansion Killzone: Gallowdark The full list of factions included in the Compendium is listed below in the Kill Team Factions section. Kill Team Campaign Books Incendiary Bombs are used for a preliminary bombardment of sort,s called in at the start of the Set Up operatives step to do mortal wounds to any enemy operatives that are set up on the vantage points of one terrain feature.Fowler: The landing pad is definitely a luxury, especially as it may not be universally useful terrain. If you are interested and the price works for you – it’s a great piece of kit. The Void Dancer Troupe kill team is different from the Troupe (Harlequins) kill team in the Compendium. Kill Team also features Tac Ops Objectives, which are drawn at the start of the game, and are secret ways of scoring victory points, on top of the usual mission objectives. There are generic Tac Ops Objectives for use with all factions, along with faction-specific Tac Ops. What Do I Need To Play Kill Team? As usual, I haven’t been able to get a decent, folded-out shot of both sides of the board due to the limitations of my lightbox. However, in this instance there’s not really all that much to show you on the other side. The aesthetic on the reverse of the board is, well, almost identical to the one shown below. It’s just grey instead of brown. Tomb World Kill Team (partially replaced by the Hierotek Circle kill team in the Shadowvaults book)
