All-in-all the GAX30 gives you total faith in it's ability to stand up to anything youcan throw at it. I have said that white is the worst guitar color of all time, so you can imagine how surprised I was when I saw a white GAX30 in person. It actually looked good. Before seeing it for myself I was absolutely and totally 100% convinced that yes, I will hate this guitar color and no matter what I will not buy it. My mind was changed... The hardware on the GAX30 is simple yet reliable. The guitar comes equipped with a fixed bridge that’s designed for stable tuning and intonation, while the die-cast tuners ensure that your strings stay in tune even after heavy playing. The chrome finish on the hardware adds a touch of class to the overall appearance of the instrument. While I prefer the sound of the AX Standard over the AX Gio, I'm keeping both guitars. I know if I parted with either, I would regret it immediately. These two axes get so many things right. The Ibanez GIO series of guitars and basses are designed with complete beginners in mind. These fun guitars combine the kind of playability you get on the more expensive models with a big sound, at a price that's available for all.

When frets are spaced closer together, it's easier to fret chords at the first 5 frets, which is where most guitarists play to begin with. When strings have less tension, it's easier to bend notes. For me, it was the Ibanez GAX30 over the Squier Mustang HH. Same price, but the GAX30 is better. It might not have a cool Surf Green color option, but it looks quite ritzy in white and nothing can touch it for what it sells for.

The GAX30 is an AX series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2018. It is a continuation of the model in production since 2003, but with several important changes. It is made in China as part of the entry-level GIO line. I'm honestly surprised more guitar makers don't use jatoba fretboards, as it really works nicely. What are you paying more for with a Standard? For 2019 the poplar body was switched to basswood and the treated New Zealand pine fretboard was swapped for jatoba. For 2020 the bridge was changed to the new Gibraltar Performer. Ibanez, said very honestly, blows away everybody else when it comes to a good cheap shorter scale guitar. There is nothing else that can touch what Ibanez is offering at the price point the GAX30 or AX120 sell for. They offer the most for the least, period. What makes a shorter scale worth owning?

Body material is basswood ( Ibanez used to say the Gio had a poplar body but now say it is basswood like the Standard)

Each guitar has a distinct tonal character. Deciding which guitar to get depends on your priorities. If you want something "hotter" that rings out power chords better, you want the Gio. If you'd rather have something with a lower output and better treble response, you want the Standard. What is jatoba? Perfect for those looking to take up guitar but also a good choice for pros looking for a simple, reliable axe that can take a beating.
