About this deal
Most of us enjoy a chocolate at Christmas - if not at any part of the year - and finding the right one is essential. Aldi fans took to social media this week to praise its new Moser Roth Luxurious Truffles. We blind-tested the milk, dark and white chocolates of both varieties - skipping the hazelnut Lindor one as we could not compare it with and Aldi version. This is what we found. Lindt Lindor Hazelnut Truffles - smooth melting milk chocolate balls with hazelnut pieces and an irresistibly smooth filling, approx. 16 balls, 200g gift box
Aldi's offering doesn't quite have the same look in our opinion. Its wrappers are similar with white and gold for the white chocolate and brown for the dark truffle but we thought neither of these was quite as classy as the other. However we all loved the elegant blue and gold wrap for the milk chocolate truffle. It was our favourite design out of all the sweets we tested. 4/5 TasteSince 1845, the Lindt Master Chocolatiers have been dedicated to creating the perfect chocolate delights Lindt - This one was billed as extra dark and came with 60% cocoa. We thought this had a very mild dark chocolate taste which surprised us and if I hadn't known it was the dark chocolate one we were tasting I'd have thought it was milk. Again the inner truffle was creamy but it had an aftertaste none of us really liked. 3/5
Aldi - this one really hit us between the eyes with dark chocolate flavour. It has 70% cocoa which gave it a rich taste. However we thought the inside layer tasted exactly the same as the milk chocolate one. 4/5 Value
