About this deal

Of course, you’ll need something to put all your new products in, and these cosmetic bags come adorned with your Hogwarts house traits. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Brush Kit So when it came time to try a new bath bomb recipe, the one that came to mind first was creating our very own Golden Snitch. This recipe is a little different from our other bath bomb recipes, we changed up the ingredients yet again, because… well science! We know bath bombs are about the chemical reaction between acids and bases from our previous bath bomb making sessions. So like any great potions student, we like to experiment! This time the change in ingredients created copious amounts of BUBBLES!

Pour the liquid ingredients into the large bowl with the dry ingredients. Using your hands mix everything together. This may take a few minutes of really working the mixture to evenly disperse all the oils throughout the dry ingredients. Break up any lumps. The mix is ready when it is the texture of wet sand and holds a shape when you squish it in your hands. Colouring the bath bomb mixNow the best part, adding the feathers so your Golden Snitch can take flight! Trim the hard part of the feather stem to about 1/8 inch. Then very gently slip into the side of the bath bomb. Repeat on the other side. Repeat the process with the second bowl using the dark green mica powder and green glitter. If the colour is not dark enough for your taste, add some more mica powder, but go slow. A little goes a long way. Add coconut oil. Depending on where you live you may want to get fractionated coconut oil, or warm your coconut oil so it isn’t solid. You want it liquid so it mixes well. I know most of the year our coconut oil is solid. Another thing we learned while making this video is that you get better reactions the warmer the water. Hmmmm… I see a bath bomb scientific investigation in our future…. That’s when a Slytherin becomes truly powerful. Like anyone they need to learn how to embrace their strengths and balance them against their weaknesses to find that zone where they thrive. The Sorting – Which Hogwarts House?

I was out of mica colouring, so we used food colouring and only one colour in this demonstration. This means our colours are paler since we could only use 2 drops of food colouring because the liquid colour causes the mix to start reacting. Spray each egg with rubbing alcohol and sprinkled extra glitter on them. Or, alternatively, you can melt a little coconut oil and brush it over the surface of the golden egg bath bomb and then sprinkle with extra glitter. Handling the bath bomb carefully, spray lightly with rubbing alcohol. Apply the gold mica powder either with your fingers, a small paint brush or add the mica powder to a bowl and ever so gently roll the bomb in the powder. In a small bowl add coconut oil, approximately 10 drops of the essential oils of your choice, and polysorbate 80. Blend well. Then add to the large bowl.

In the first bowl add the yellow mica powder and yellow glitter. About 1 teaspoon of each is perfect to start. Mix it in really well with your hands (you may want to wear gloves for this part) until the colour is evenly dispersed. If you want a darker colour, simply add a bit more mica and mix again until you achieve your desired colour. Next up, these eye shadow palettes, with different wizarding world colour schemes. After all, why have boring old brown eye shadow when you can now have Chocolate Frog brown matte? In a microwave safe container melt the coconut oil in the microwave. Use short intervals and stir until it is just liquid (you don’t want to boil it). The iconic Hogwarts game of Quidditch inspired this Golden Snitch bath bomb covered in gold cosmetic mica powder. To make it you will lightly spray your bath bomb with isopropyl alcohol and roll it in gold glitter. This will create a sparkly golden snitch ball that will turn your bath water into shimmery gold. First, bath bomb eruptions are caused by an acid-base reaction that releases Carbon Dioxide gas (CO2). The gas is what forms all those fizzy bubbles. While dry the acid and base will not react with each other, but add even a drop of water and the reaction will start. That’s why it is so important to keep your bath bombs away from humidity. Even humidity in the air can cause your bath bomb to start erupting.

Leave molds to harden for 48 hours. The time to set will vary based on your climate. Warm, dry environments are best for setting and hardening. If it is very humid you may experience issues with it expanding or even erupting in the molds. If you are trying to reduce your footprint, I highly recommend using a biodegradable glitter or not using glitter at all in your bath bombs. I know some kids love the glitter, and really with these Harry Potter Bath Bombs it adds a bit of sparkly magic, so I have included glitter, but the choice is yours when making these for yourself. I have linked to both a cosmetic glitter and a biodegradable version below. Once they are hard, simply drop them in a nice warm bath and enjoy the Hufflepuff vibe of relaxation and kindness.
