About this deal

As you may have gathered, Taylor isn’t exactly a “fan” of Harry Potter. He thought the books were excellent, of course, but the whole experience was somewhat scarring. Mary GrandPré". Arthur A. Levine Books. Archived from the original on 2006-02-14 . Retrieved 2007-02-12. L’ho sfogliato e letto con cura, ho ammirato ogni dettaglio, ogni disegno , ogni particolare che ci viene spiegato. Is the book worth it..eh..maybe. If you haven't read the movie magic/vault books, then by all means, yes this book is worth it. If you want to read the artifact vault, movie locations, etc books, then maybe hold off on this one as all those books are expensive as well, and you will learn a lot more from those books than this one.

Go behind-the-scenes and discover the gorgeous concept art of Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and the other magical locations of the Wizarding World with this miniature art book based on the Harry Potter films. This is a beautifully made, informative, and fun movie companion book! Well, maybe this is nothing more than a glorified movie magazine in book form, but it gave me plenty of entertainment value. I adore the Harry Potter books and I really like the movies, and this is a fun book for fans of the movies. The book covers all 8 movies, so I got to see a (very) few scenes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 before the movie comes out. The graphic artists who designed the films and their contents also designed this book, and they did a fabulous job, with both endeavors. There is much attention to detail, even including the printed on name plate at the beginning of the book. Keep the fascinating magical creatures of the wizarding world close at hand with this miniature art book featuring concept art from the Harry Potter films. The book begins with a foreward from Dan, Rupert, and Emma, who gush about how much of an impact the series made in their lives. Dan remarked on the journey both he and Harry endured in the ten years; Rupert took pride in playing brave Ron Weasley, the "ultimate ginger," in his words; and Emma voiced her respect for her young, annoying, brainy Muggle-born fictional counterpart she thought she had nothing in common with early in the series, but who she embraced with all her heart by the end. It then lead into the first of many producer's notes scattered throughout the book, where David Heyman, the man who read the first Harry Potter book, fell in love, and immediately insisted on making the films, explained how he began to piece the movies together well over ten years ago. The Thread of Life: Twelve Old Italian Tales, retold by Domenico Vittorini (Crown, 1995), OCLC 28709363; Running Press Kids; New Ed edition, 2003 There was no written brief, and no correspondence with the book’s author, JK Rowling – just a conversation with Cunningham, who had taken a chance on Harry Potter after 12 other publishers turned it down. His instructions were simple: he wanted the cover to show Harry boarding the Hogwarts Express. a b c d Jarvis, John (1999). "Mary GrandPré". Communication Arts. I would do it completely differently now,” he said. “Harry was about to get on the train at King’s Cross, so I felt he should just be in any old clothes. I would put him in something different now. And there may be too much of the station visible.”

If you are a Harry Potter fanatic this is a must-have addition to your library. It covers the Harry Potter world in a virtual 3-D approach. The book is full of surprises and beautiful artwork. Mere words cannot convey the enjoyment the reader will receive from this book. And then off I went,” says Taylor. It sounded simple, but it wasn’t. “In the early sketches, you couldn’t see Harry properly because he’s walking towards the train, but the train had to be seen,” he explains, scratching the ears of his rescue dog Alpha. This was one of my Christmas gifts, and I spent most of Christmas day reading this book. It is full of many cool things. There are little envolopes that have a bunch of stuff from the movies. Harry's acceptance letter to Uno studio dei personaggi, delle scene, degli schizzi e di tutto ciò che circonda e che racchiude il mondo magico di Harry.

It’s how it feels to me. That old-fashioned steam train. Those yellow stars in the smoke. The look of wonder on Harry’s face. Maybe it’s because this is the first Harry Potter I ever saw, but to me the cover is full of magic. I would love to pass on the love of books to another generation,” he says. “It took me a long time to discover the joy of reading, and to realise it’s not a chore… I think JK Rowling did that with the Harry Potter books.” Swing Around the Sun, poems by Barbara Juster Esbensen (the Fall season; Lerner Publishing Group, 2002) I would have bought this book for the concept art alone. Or to be more precise, for this particular sketch of Hogwarts and its surrounding grounds, penned in a matter of minutes by J.K. Rowling herself, for the production designer. GrandPré married designer Kevin Whaley when she was young. [2] After they divorced, she attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. [4] After her graduation, GrandPré spent several years as a waitress while working to be noticed by ad agencies and attempting to find her own style. Her drawing evolved into what she calls "soft geometry", featuring pastels. Her work is created completely by hand, without using a computer. [5]

One small quibble: I do hope the publishers will re-print a revised edition of this to include information from Part II of The Deathly Hallows. Unfortunately, this edition only covered The Sorcerers Stone through Part I of The Deathly Hallows. It would be wonderful to have more information on the finale and beyond. In 2006, GrandPré began creating art for herself instead of for an assignment. She has donated several pieces to The Wellness Community of Southwest Florida, a non-profit organization providing support for people with cancer. [12] She has also contributed to her local Habitat for Humanity charity by donating pieces and books, as well.

The commentary provided includes interviews with the actors and staff. They talk about everything from creating sets like the Hogwarts castle to how they film the movie with computer graphics elements. I'm impressed with how much content is included. GrandPré, Mary". Library of Congress Authorities. Archived from the original on July 13, 2015 . Retrieved June 18, 2018. A beautiful traditional styled 'coffee table' book, printed on high quality paper, providing a great insight into the graphic design process of all eight Harry potter films (not the Fantastic Beasts series, as there are separate books for that such as The Art of the Film: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ). The books size (and yes weight) means that the heavy gauge paper have huge illustrations of the world that Harry Potter inhabited - so you have images that never before have been seen in hugh high quality spreads. Sono stata molto felice e appena il mio ragazzo me lo ha consegnato sono rimasta a bocca aperta incredula di quanto, un piccolo mattoncino come questo potesse farmi battere così tanto il cuore.
