About this deal

Our FA3322X4 Carbon Monoxide Alarm with digital display comes with a sealed, tamper proof battery that will last the lifetime of the alarm. The sensors within the unit will deteriorate after 10 years, so to ensure you’re protected we recommend you replace the unit after this time. The below FAQ’s should support you through understanding this change, but if you do have any further questions please get in touch with our Customer Service team who would be happy to help.

Mains powered alarms are powered by your home’s electricity supply and can be identified by a light which indicates they are connected to the mains power. Battery powered alarms do not have a green light and when removed you will have a flat base plate without any connections. For safety reasons If your alarms are mains powered or you are not sure, you should consult a qualified electrician or the manufacturer for advice. Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer because you can’t smell it, taste it or see it. Once it enters your bloodstream, it invades the red blood cells (haemoglobin), preventing them from carrying oxygen around the body. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include a flu-like headache, dizziness and nausea followed by tiredness, confusion, breathlessness, weakness, loss of muscular coordination and – dare I mention it – death. CO is so odourless that even dogs can’t detect it. How do CO alarms work? The alarm comes with 2 X AA batteries that can be replaced once the low battery chirp can be heard. Battery powered carbon monoxide alarms can typically be installed wall-mounted or left free-standing on flat, level surface. Also note that carbon monoxide has been proven to spread into neighbouring properties through open windows and, in semi-detached or terrace houses, through loft spaces. If your property has an attached garage with a connecting door through to the house, it is recommended to fit a CO alarm inside the house leading from that doorway.A sealed battery ensures that the battery isn’t removed, leaving the home and occupants vulnerable to fire or carbon monoxide dangers. Once the battery runs low, and begins chirping, you will need to replace the full unit. These batteries are designed to operate in line with the life-span of the sensor within the alarm, which is usually 7 or 10 years.

The health effects of CO depend on the concentration and length of exposure (carbon monoxide concentration is measured in parts per million). According to respected CO alarm manufacturer Kidde, “a carbon monoxide detector is a time-weighted alarm that measures the buildup of carbon monoxide in a house. Most people will not experience any symptoms from prolonged exposure to CO levels of under, say, 40ppm. It depends on the length of exposure, but the real danger level starts at around 400ppm (two to three hours of exposure at this level can be life-threatening). To give you some idea of how dangerous higher levels of concentration can be, 1,500ppm could result in death within an hour and 6,000ppm within 15 minutes.

The FA6813-EU offers electrochemical sensing technology and a clear loud alarm to ensure trusted carbon monoxide (CO) detection for your home. This alarm also features our new Crescendo Test, which helps to protect your hearing by allowing you to choose the volume level of the test alarm. Simply hold down the test button and the alarm will move through the increasing volume levels (similar to a rising ‘crescendo’) until you find the alert sound level you are comfortable with. FA6813-EU: Carbon Monoxide Alarm with replaceable batteriesFollowing the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London, a Ministerial Working Group on Building and Fire Safety was established to review Scotland’s building and fire safety regulatory frameworks. This legislation will ensure that everyone in Scotland has the same level of protection whether they own or rent their home.’ Certified to the European Carbon Monoxide alarm Standards EN 50291-1: 2010, EN 50291-2: 2010, and Kitemarked KM 551504. A wireless interlinked network is established using radio frequency – which means that additional alarms can be added to a network at any time. The Fireangel CO-9D comes with a sealed in battery which lasts for the entire 7 year life of its sensors, so the battery will never need replacing. The battery is activated by removing the tab, as indicated by the diagram to the right, and it can be deactivated by reinserting the tab at any time - useful for when you're travelling or when you need to store it away for a while.

The quantity of alarms required depends on the property type you live in, so we would advise you complete a full assessment to ensure compliancy, however the below can be used to support this. You can also install a smart alarm system, with FireAngel Pro Connected, which will allow you to test your alarm system via your phone, be notified of any device issues within the system and be notified of any fire or carbon monoxide alerts whilst you’re away from the home.

With our sleep easy function, you can silence low battery chirps for 8 hours, up to 10 times. This feature not only allows you to enjoy a silent night’s sleep, but gives you vital time to take action and replace your batteries. The advice below is purely provided for ‘best practice’ and should not be used independently. Please note, these alarms are not suitable for homes in Scotland under the new Fire & CO regulations. The one downside with this model is that it runs off a pair of AA batteries, which need to be switched out roughly every three years, making three changes during its lifespan. This isn’t a huge issue, but it means this model isn’t suitable for use in Scottish homes. It is, however, suitable for use in a boat or caravan, making it a good option if you need an alarm on your next boating or caravanning trip.
