About this deal

If it was just a case of jankiness caused by a small, overambitious team then I’d be happy to give Piranha Bytes a pass at least one more time. Sadly, that’s not the case. Elex 2 is, by far, the most unpleasant, mean-spirited and plain nasty game I’ve played in a very long time. Almost everyone you encounter is just a horrible person. They’re generally rude and abrasive, and even the friendlier ones are just annoying. One of your party characters, literally named Nasty, is flat out abusive. I’m assuming that this is supposed to be “mature” or “realistic” but it’s neither of those things. The game is like a twelve year old who thinks that being rude and swearing constantly makes him well ‘ard. These aren’t nuanced, well-rounded characters, they’re flat automatons who are unrelentingly awful instead of having any personality. Learning new skills via LP tends to also require certain attribute levels and Elexit (money), as well. Jax starts as a blank slate, for the most part, so give your build some thought so you don't waste any AP or LP from the moment you're given control. Focus on strength and dexterity to start If you take everything the Bastion has to offer it will mean not having to worry about acquiring food or potions for a little while, and you will have items you can sell for decent money later in the game. Players will be joined by their companions, though. Many familiar faces from the first game return, though there are brand new companions in Elex 2 as well. Each has their own compelling story, if their quests are somewhat repetitive. Generally speaking, players will either travel to a place to kill an enemy or enemies or go looking for something, upon which players will need to kill enemies. Still, the overarching stories of each companion are interesting and varied, and the potential romances of Elex 2 are much more intricate and mature than the first game. Given by Halvar in the upper part of the Fort, post Berserkers' Trust, directed to steal 5 pouches from Fort Guards.

Not only has its functionality in the open world been improved, but it now has proper uses in combat. Players can “hover” and that allows them to face flying foes in the sky or zoom down to enemies on the ground. Even if the animations are somewhat repetitive, there is nothing more thrilling than seeing Jax do a barrel roll through the sky to melee a flying enemy. Avoid enemies with the skull icon. The skull means that defeating such an enemy will be incredibly difficult. Avoid these enemies until you gain enough levels and get better equipment. The game is like all past Piranha Bytes offerings in the past fifteen years or so. You begin as a wimp who can barely wield a weapon, SLOWLY build up your character, in a world where every enemy is much stronger than you. At some point, you manage to join a faction, which finally allows you to develop some really powerful abilities, and eventually you are strong enough to confront even the strongest enemies.

Among the initial places you will certainly see in Elex II is the Stronghold. See to it prior to you continue with your adventure you collect whatever the Stronghold has to use. This will include food and remedies which will certainly come in beneficial later. Not only will you provide yourself an excellent running start by taking whatever it likewise gives you the option to offer things if you need cash in the future. Elex II is an ambitious and slightly bonkers open world RPG hampered by badly written and unpleasant characters. Elex 2 is very much a Piranha Bytes game. It’s an open-world RPG that cares precisely not one jot about whether you live or die. It’s clunky and janky, but compelling and can be a breath of fresh air when you’re used to a steady diet of over-polished AAA affairs. Sadly, it also has the same problems as the previous game. And the Risen series. And Gothic 3. Presumably the first two Gothic games, but I could never get past their terrible controls. They had more than 4 years to work on this, a bigger budget and more support from the Publisher... and this is it? A game that reuses 70% of the assets from the previous one but manages to have even less content. Yes, there are more factions now, but they are mostly a variation of the first 3. Morkons are just Clerics without the cool technology stuff. Albs are just Clerics with autism. Berzerkers went from Viking hippies to just hippies and the Outlaws are just as useless as in the first game. Magic seems to also be useless, at least for the Berzerker faction, as most guns you will get will deal more damage by the time you advance well enough into the game to get magic. Also, there seems to be fewer weapons than in the first game, so no more cool stuff like the Flamethrower or Chainswords. One of the first places you need to visit before you continue on your adventure is the Bastion, there you will be able to obtain items such as a large supply of potions which will help you considerably later on in the game. There will be instances, especially in the early game where a quest will point you to a specific area, and you will find you are unable to progress forward from there.
