About this deal

I am a Dreamer!" answered Ordinary. "Today I'm going to tell my Boss that I'm leaving my Usual Job. Tomorrow I will begin my journey. Hey, Best Friend," added Ordinary eagerly, "you can have my recliner and my box!" One evening after work, Ordinary went to his Parents' to watch the box. But their box was broken, so the house was very quiet. It was even more quiet because his Mother was out shopping at Familiar Foods. Every day was pretty much the same for Ordinary. In the mornings he got up and went to his Usual Job. After work, he ate almost the same dinner he'd eaten the evening before. Then he sat in his recliner and watched the box that mesmerized most Nobodies on most nights.

The realization I came to when studying this book was that I am the only one who can fulfill the vision or dream that God has given me and if I fail, then others will be affected as well. It made me realize that I have a lot of responsibility to fulfill the dreams and visions that God has given me. One thing Ordinary did know for sure: He didn't want to repeat his Father's mistake. He wouldn't waste another day waiting for his Dream to seem possible. He would find a way to pursue it. This book is an easy, short read. You can finish it in a weekend, which I recommend. The Dream Giver seems to be a perfect fit for anyone searching for their dream; having unanswered questions or wondering about life itself. It is inspirational, uplifting and helpful, he gives the reader common misconceptions in what keeps people from not pursuing their God-given dreams. "It's so easy to get caught up in the demands of life. And we all take refuge at times in routines and recliners and usual anything!" The purpose of reading The Dream Giver would be to help the reader obtain direction in finding his dream and recognizing his God given talents, then applying them. This book, Dream Giver, The is the second book by Bruce Wilkinson (born 1940) who is the author of the popular book, The Prayer of Jabez Devotional: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life (3 stars). That prayer is based on the passage from the Holy Bible (1Chronicles 4:9-10) that goes like this: Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain." Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from the evil one." And God granted his request.Wilkinson basically expounded on this prayer to encourage his readers to outlines his or her life and what he wants to do and raise that plan to God so it will be blessed by God. The story of Ordinary during part one of the book annoys me a little. It's a little too overt how proper names are also descriptions of each thing. At the same time, the author gets the point across. It doesn't bother me that the author quotes from that story and enlarges on the points he makes in the second half of the book. It's easy to comprehend. But I had a few hours to kill, and the book was thin enough and written in big print, so I gave it a shot. I have just read as much of The Prayer of Jabez as I could stand. Reflecting, I realised that it wasn't my first encounter with this author. I read The Dream Giver whilst serving on-board a missionary ship. A friend highly recommended it so I found it in the ship library. I remember being disappointed and thinking it reminded me of the Christian hedonism principle espoused by John Piper which I don't have much time for.

It will be of particular value to those who might feel that they have lost their way in the WasteLand. PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Dream_Giver_-_Bruce_H_Wilkinson.pdf, The_Dream_Giver_-_Bruce_H_Wilkinson.epub This book is three masterpieces wrapped into one. Part one is the Parable of the Dream Giver, the story of a Nobody named Ordinary who leaves the Land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream. We all have been born with a Big Dream, a gift from the Dream Giver. Often we lose sight of that Big Dream, or crumble under obstacles that seem insurmountable. I’m gifting my copy to my brother in hopes this helps motivate him to recognize a dream and work towards it. He began to hate his Usual Job. This isn't what I was made to do, he'd say to himself. I just know it!

Then Ordinary did remember. He'd always had his Dream! It was what he'd always wanted to do, and what he'd always thought he'd be good at doing. His eyes filled with tears. "Father," he said, "I think I was born to do this." Ordinary and his Father sat together quietly. His Father seemed to be remembering something, too. After a while he asked, "When you woke up to your Big Dream, Son, Until the day Ordinary noticed a small, nagging feeling that something big was missing from his life. Or maybe the feeling was that he was missing from something big. He wasn't sure. Book Genre: Business, Christian, Christianity, Faith, Inspirational, Leadership, Nonfiction, Personal Development, Religion, Self Help, Spirituality I liked the questions that were scattered throughout this book and made every effort to write an answer them. Some of them are:I am so encouraged, so emboldened, and so convicted by it that I have no choice but to make a choice. There is more to life than what most of us are living, and God placed us here with the precious gift of life for a reason! In Chapter Twelve, he talks about the Dream that has not been surrendered to God, and the pitfalls that can bring; how "Your Dream will become your idol", and how that can "make people 'successful' but not fulfilled" (pg. 133) and further, to face the areas in our lives that need cleansing, where we may be making compromises and have "unfinished business". And it is right . There is more. The secret lies deep within your heart. It's trying to show you a life that can only happen when you chase your wildest dreams.
