About this deal

We have many different YouView boxes, because they are all slightly different, we have different instructions for them. This is a lightweight box, weighting only 980 g and is 39 x 19.2 x 4.8 cm in size. If you love to watch TV shows but first do not get the right time to catch your favourite series or do not want to spend money on cable, this youview box is a great option. With this product, you can get to see 4OD, BBC iplayer, ITV player and UK tv without paying any subscription fee or any extra charges. Also to stream Freeview channels there is no need to set up any external satellite. Truth be told, there aren’t a lot of YouView boxes out there, so making a choice is – for good and for bad – not that complicated. Still, because the boxes aren’t cheap, you should still look carefully at the different features they offer (which is what we’re here to help with.)

If you are forgetful or are busy so watching shows on time is impossible for you, DTR-T2000 is here for your service. You can record your favourite shows, with the 1TB hard disk you can save up to 600 hours of shows. Also, you get to stream 70 Freeview channels from which only 12 are in HD. Other than that, this device always streaming of all the services other youview boxes does and does not e.g. BBC iplayer, ITV player, Netflix, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV and Milkshake.

So CS definitely stated it was not working as it is not "supported" from 1st Aug 2022, you state it is more likely to be a fault. I've read about YouView ceasing support. Not wanting to continue development shouldn't be a reason to stop the most recent updates being available though (or they could be released into the public domain). Here, it was explained that only paid for services had ended being supported on the old box, should not have stopped working in other ways due to that and that it might be a fault. Yes I have known for a long time prior to this matter arising that TT have not supplied this model DN372T for some time. After a bit more digging, it seems the talktalk server the boxes connect to is still available / working....

So you can put another hard drive 2.5" or 3.5" in the Talktalk box but the onboard software will limit the HD to 300Gb. Eventually, though, Freeview introduced “Freeview Play” on higher-end boxes: a very similar (to YouView) service, that offers a mix of over-the-air channels with a 7-day catch-up service and a selection of apps. Sounds familiar? When called with a valid serial number, it responds with a link to the required update file....e.g. This is also an inexpensive option for people who are just experimenting with the youview box services. Humax is like any ordinary youview box but with better features. At this price point, Humax is delivering features that are usually expected from high-end products. However, just one example was that she couldn't take her 50 year old phone number when she move just one mile down the road still within the same exchange area. This previous actual LIE by TalkTalk was eventually sorted out after weeks chasing, so I am dubious of anything TT state for this and many other instances of "inaccuracies".

Even though Freeview (the service offering free-to-air channels via a tuner and an aerial – see our full guide) was already around for years, the companies were looking for an “upgraded” service – one that’ll offer both free channels, a catch-up service, and the ability to pay for TV “add-ons”. YouView+ Ultra HDadds 4K support – but remember you also need a telly that supports 4K. The 4K content is limited at the moment – you get some 4K content from Netflix (provided you have their highest subscription tier), and from BT (if you pay for it.) The BBC are planning to offer 4K content in the future – so you’ll be ready for that as well.

Then there are boxes that come without the BT/TalkTalk branding, arriving directly from Humax and Huawei. http://pcds.vlx.tv.talktalk.net/cds/from_huawei/PVR1_DN370T/Huawei_DN370T_B45SP159_Release_20180620/... I had a spare laptop hard disk (Hitachi, 80Gb) so I followed these instructions to fit, and it kinda worked – the box was now ‘alive’, it would record the current programme if I pressed the record button, but anything I set to record failed. Maybe it was something to do with the hard disk not being ‘video’ grade, or the small size… If anyone actually from TalkTalk is reading this, you need to answer this, not get others to trouble themselves.

BritBox: The streaming service from ITV and the BBC with classic British programmes. Again, only available on some YouView boxes. RF out to another device is needed to continue to the TV, it is better than splitting RF generally. To list all the previous inaccurate nonsense on various issues my relative has been told by customer services would take hours. The box makes a call to the following URL (model specific and you need to include a valid serial number for it to respond)..... Whether it had an intermittent fault or just needed the box or powerline adapters switching off and on again, who knows.

The issue, is the update file ("dn370t-upgrade-Cds70.45.159Mc4Ps3.3.156Pc4129Api3.1.5.P.release"), doesn't exist any more on that server. Not "supported" anymore, usually means it does not get any updates to keep it working or it has been made to not work.

Still need help?

In the last couple of years, BT has become a well-known brand. It has got all the popularity because of the rapid production of new youview models in a short time. BT produces both economical and high-end products with great quality. Again, it may have an intermittent fault which could return but at the moment it is working as it was, or it may have just been a dodgy connection to the internet. It looks like there is an issue with the update server, i.e. it's either refusing to serve the update files, or else the files aren't there any more to be served.
