About this deal

The AVATA brings much of the enjoyment I used to get flying FPVs but at a slower and more stable pace. Roll to the left or right, and the AVATA rolls to the left or right; it doesn’t do an FPV and flip in a full 360º in every direction, which is frankly a relief. Tested with a production model DJI Avata in a controlled environment. Actual experience may vary depending on the environment, usage, and firmware version. To remain oriented during flight while wearing goggles, DJI Avata and DJI Goggles 2 display the Home Point where the drone took off from. This augmented reality (AR) perspective gives an extra sense of orientation to help the pilot locate the immediate environment in seconds. DJI Avata FPV drone is now available to buy. Manual (M) Mode (only with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2): Fly in M mode for complete, limitless control and the full FPV immersive flight experience. Experienced users can customize parameters and enjoy flight and footage unlike anything else. The propellers of the DJI Avata are protected by built-in propeller guards. So, it can handle minor collisions. And there is the Turtle mode, which can flip the drone if it is upside down after a crash.

The overwhelming majority of drone pilots fly safely and responsibly. But DJI Avata’s high-speed performance can warrant extra attention and care from drone pilots to be aware of their surroundings. Drone pilots flying with FPV goggles should pair with a visual observer to act as a spotter. Remember that many jurisdictions require a visual observer to watch for airspace hazards. So, always fly safely and responsibly, and be sure to understand and follow the legal requirements set by the civil aviation authorities in your region. Read more: DJI Fly app adds support for new Avata FPV drone, Goggles 2 5. Avata uses DJI’s most powerful video transmission systemAlso announced today, DJI Goggles 2 is a next-generation video headset that offers a smaller, lighter, and more comfortable fit, with a crystal-clear FPV image comparable to those of other DJI drones. Before starting the flight, you must brief your spotter if you’re using the Goggles V2. Your spotter is your line of sight and is required for you to meet the UK drone laws. Once they are briefed and reassured that the batteries won’t last that long. It’s time to take off. Despite only using two antennae this time around, the DJI Goggles 2 sport the latest version of DJI’s transmission tech, Ocusync O3+. DJI claims that it’ll provide a video and control link of up to 10km – an impressive distance – though this is limited to 2km in Europe due to regulations. In my experience, the display has been able to provide crisp 1080p footage with just a 30ms response time up to a few hundred metres away in a built-up forest, and that’s improved when in open environments.

Images are captured in JPEG format for stills and MP4 for video, although a plus point here is that you can capture in standard or D-Cinelike colour profiles. What is a step up is the ability to capture video at 150MB/s, which is high for this type of camera. What I like is the image quality. The small sensor enables the capture of superb quality footage, well beyond what you would expect with this type of drone and the ease of use with the Goggles makes it easy to compose the shots exactly as you want. The 155° FOV is only available when the aspect ratio is 4:3, and the video recording specification is 2.7K@50/60fps or 1080p@50fps/60fps; the aspect ratio is 16:9, and the video recording specification is 4K@50/60fps, 2.7K@50/60fps, or 1080p@50/60fps. The 5.1 GHz frequency band is currently banned in China and Thailand. For details, please refer to local laws and regulations. DJI Goggles 2 does not support astigmatism correction. If you have specific vision requirements, please consult your doctor before use. To further intensify the flight experience, DJI has revised its FPV goggles. The new Goggles 2 with OLED display resolves the live image in full HD quality at a fast 100 fps. It is also lighter and more compact than the FPV Goggles V2, which is still compatible. Another new feature is that the diopter setting can be adjusted to your vision using 2 rotary controls. The bundle called Pro-View-Combo contains the new Goggles 2 and the motion controller in addition to the drone. The Fly Smart combo, on the other hand, comes with the older FPV Goggles V2 motion controller. If you already have the FPV drone's intuitive motion controller, you can continue to use it to control the Avata. However, if you want to use all manual functions, you have to reach for the new FPV Remote Controller 2. However, this is only available separately. Fast FPV Flying Requires Increased Attention in Pairs
