About this deal

We should note that this dual-purpose robot forms one part of Ecovacs’ premium X1 series. As we’ve just mentioned, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo we’ve reviewed here is defined by its charging station automatically refilling its water reservoir. Sitting just below it is the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Plus, which has a charging station that automatically empties the dustbin after every vacuum, but you’ll have to manually empty and refill the bot’s water.

To wake up the voice assistant, just say, "OK Yiko," and wait for it to reply, "I'm here." Yiko supports a wide range of voice commands, including "start cleaning," "make a new map," "mop the kitchen," and, "go mop the floor around the living room sofa." You can even say "come clean here" if you're in the same room as the robot, and it navigates to your position. Similarly, when you tell it, "don't vacuum here," the vacuum moves to a different spot. Yiko is enabled by default; to disable it, just navigate to More Settings in the Ecovacs app, select Yiko Voice Assistant, and toggle it off. The infrared sensor around the front of the U2’s bumper powers the bot’s anti-collision tech. We found it works well when it comes to wall avoidance – stopping just short of large barriers – but it’s not quite as proficient at avoiding smaller obstacles like furniture legs. It does all these tasks well, but there are other products out there which offer a similar feature set at a lower price. For example, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni has comparable performance and was released at a similar price point in 2022, but you can find it on sale fairly frequently. Ecovacs says the Deebot U2 has a run time of up to 110 minutes, and during our testing, we found the battery life to be a little lower; around 90 minutes with standard suction power. Using Max power, we got about 65 minutes of juice from the robovac, and around 45 minutes of run time on its most powerful suction setting. That’s quite an impressive battery life, especially when you consider a small open-plan apartment, or one with about two or three rooms, could get a thorough cleaning with the Max+ setting on a single run.

While you can manually start a cleaning cycle with the Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus by pressing its Power button, all of your settings, vacuum/map customizations, and scheduling functions are located in the easy-to-use Ecovacs Home app (available for iPhone/iPad and Android). And as far as robot vacuums app go, I was actually quite pleased with the UI of this one. The app provides instructions on how to clean those accessories, as well as the percentage of time left until replacement. Following 11 hours of cleaning, most of Deemaid’s parts were still in the range of 90%. But that’s just a suggestion, with many of these parts lasting much longer. Just use your discretion. Of course, Ecovacs’ Deebot T9+ is more than just a vacuum. It offers air freshener and mopping abilities too. Swapping between the two functions is as simple as putting in a different component. It registers immediately, and you can send the device on its way. No initial mapping or anything else is required beforehand; the Deebot T9+ just goes on its merry way as soon as you press Auto Cleaning. To start, it went to my living room, traversing with relative ease, even going under furniture that was mere millimeters from the laser mapping tool that sits on top. I saw it doing a full wrap-around table legs and chairs for a thorough cleaning. Deemaid continued cruising in and out of different rooms and then would return, seemingly getting the lay of the land. As soon as it hit a rug, you could hear the suction intensify. Because these two models are so similar, I set them both up side by side and tested them simultaneously. With this in mind, we’d recommend the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo (the model reviewed here) to those who have mostly hard floors, particularly if you’d like them regularly mopped as well as vacuumed, and you want to be a little hands-off in the process. The mopping function is a bit more impressive. You fill the small tank with just water – you don’t add any cleaning solution, so don’t expect it to deliver a deep clean. Next, slap on one of the provided disposable microfiber cloths. I also really liked the handy readout at the top of the screen that gives a detailed breakdown of your current cleaning cycle in terms of actual cleaning status, area cleaned, and how long the N10 Plus has been running.

Fortnite Deboot Van: Will It Kill Players?

We’ve never seen a robot vacuum look and feel as sleek as the X1 Turbo. The robot itself has a familiar circular design, but what grabbed our attention at first glance was the brushed metal finish, which looks lovely despite being made of plastic.

Then there’s the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, which is a truly all-in-one cleaning solution that boasts a charging station that automatically empties the dustbin, replenishes the water, then cleans and dries its own mop pads with hot air flow – a first for a robot vacuum. Flip the robot vac over and you’ll get a better idea of how this device works. There are two side brushes towards the front to sweep debris towards the main brush located in the middle. That main brush can get quite tangled with hair and fibers, but thankfully the brush is easy to remove and simple to clean. For a full settings dashboard, you'll want to select the three dots icon at the top-right of the home screen. Under "Basic Settings," you'll be able to do things like toggle Auto-Boost Suction on or off (allowing the Deebot N10 Plus to ramp up power whenever carpeting is detected), create custom cleaning schedules, reset your current map, and more. "Additional Settings" will give you access to the vac's cleaning log, accessories usage report, and other housekeeping logistics. One early critique that I have for the X2 Omni is its object avoidance capabilities. As mentioned, I’ve been using one of Ecovacs’ premium models from 2022 for over a year, and I feel as though the X2 Omni bumps into objects and obstacles more frequently than the older model. I believe this may have something to do with the LiDAR sensor being moved from the top of the robot and being built into the side of the bot instead. It could also be a result of the new softly squared shape, but it’s too early to tell at this stage.
