About this deal

Cooking on gas also seems to work fine, very good temp control, cleaning is a bit of a problem as the bottom of the BBQ bit is not removable, my old BBQ the whole under side beneath the burners slid out and could be scraped clean quite easily, the Coal 2 gas requires you to remove all the grill, heat shields etc to get and clean it. (Unfortunately, it does say in the small print that this BBQ is not designed to be cleaned by turning it on full and burning excessive off, I hadn’t seen this bit, this technique worked fine on my old barby for years.) It has an electronic ignition feature, making it easy to get this thing up and running in mere seconds

If you love the authenticity and taste of grilling over coals, a charcoal barbecue is definitely the way to go.Strictly speaking, this is a gas and charcoal combined grill, but it has the type of chamber that makes it perfect for barbecue smoking too. Frustratingly, not all hybrids have dampers and will instead have a different airflow system. I have yet to find a setup for charcoal grilling that works as well as dampers, so I recommend only getting a model that has these in place. Easy Access to Charcoal As a rule, I would always go for a lower BTU if the unit is excellent and maintaining consistent heat levels with very little temperature fluctuation. Air Vents or Dampers Look out for charcoal BBQs which have vents, as these allow more control over the cooking temperature. If you’ve had enough of basic BBQs and are looking to add some excitement to your outdoor steak-nights, the Kamado Joe KJ23RHC Classic II Charcoal Grill certainly delivers a touch of panache to proceedings.

If you don’t have access to this your grill could burn out, or you could be forced to replace it unsafely. You won’t have to compromise at all in favor of getting gas over charcoal or vice versa. These grills are just how they sound: The convenience of gas lighting, with the authentic tastes and aromas that charcoal gives you. As a rule, 400 square inches should be enough to cook about 12-16 burger patties in one go. Construction Build

Personally, I tend to steer clear of these. While having everything streamlined into one unit is convenient, and they undoubtedly provide excellent versatility, there comes a point where the cooking quality of each facet of the grill begins to suffer once you add fuel source upon fuel source. Potential Food Yield The big test comes when you put the starter chimney full of coals in the middle of the tray. That's the maximum weight your tray will normally see - and in this case I had no bowing in either direction. I ran a complete set of coals through an entire heating cycle to burn off any oils or whatever before using it.

Arrange the coals in your BBQ depending on whether you want to cook with direct heat (food directly above the coals) or indirect heat (food cooks on grill with heat source off to one side). Charcoal barbecues really offer a variety of great options for food lovers. You can choose to use different types of wood with your charcoal barbecue to alter the taste when smoking. There are so many possibilities that just aren’t available when cooking with gas. It doesn’t shy away from providing good cooking surface either. Between its two main cooking surface, it offers a total of 557 square inches of grill area for you to make use of. It’s equipped with most of the features you’d expect from a BBQ of this size. There’s a front thermometer which makes it easy to monitor the internal temperature, and large wheels for portability across hard surfaces. Weighing just 14 kg, it would be easy to lift into a new spot if needed.Use a chimney starter instead of a burner to keep your burner secure, then cover the burner hole with an easy-to-removable faucet or aluminum foil. This small size also has its own advantages. Obviously maintenance is one, but also it makes it extremely fast to cook on as the heat is more concentrated.

When you consider grilling that requires more time, which leads to a mess with a charcoal grill, gas grills have less of that. The fixings (screws, nuts and bolts etc) were film wrapped on a piece of card. Each fitting was clearly visible through the shrink-wrapped cellophane. The code number for each fitting was printed on the reverse of the card. Brilliant idea, you can clearly identify each component fitting. One thing to take into consideration is the assembly time – if you’re planning to buy this charcoal grill for a specific event, allow yourself two to three hours to get it assembled correctly as it can prove a little difficult to put together. Well built but fiddly to clean Takes a couple of hours to build as people have mentioned, build quality is far superior than my previous gas BBQ but that should be expected as it was double the price. Combo grills tend to be generously sized, with some on the list above offering two separate cooking spaces to cook over. This allows you to be extremely time-efficient, cooking larger batches of food at once. Cost-Efficient

Recommendations

The Royal Gourmet’s charcoal firebox is impressive. It features dual air vents to maintain good grilling heat, making it easy to operate as a smoker as well. While we waited we prepared some bacon, rolled, seasoned and skewered. The cucumber and tomatoes skewers were also prepared. Other features are its instant electronic ignition, easy firebox access, porcelain-coated cast-iron grills, and an airflow regulator. Assembly is fairly straightforward, although it does take about an hour. There are clips on both sides of the grill which allow you to dismantle it easily. This also makes it easy to break down and store in a car. For instance, if you are taking it camping.
