The three Vanguard Space Marine units are all designed to level accurate fire on enemies. The Infiltrators, once deployed can fire with their Markmanship Bolt Carbines. Rapid Fire allows the unit to double its shots, so the 10-man squad can fire 20 rounds, which automatically hit and wound on rolls of a 6.

Besides Abaddon, the Chaos Marines have a few epic heroes to choose from. Here’s a thing to note about the Chaos Space Marine Epic Heroes: Unlike the Space Marines, none of these guys have a Faction keyword save HERETIC ASTARTES, so there are no restrictions on putting them all in the same army.

This came to a head at the infamous Council of Nikaea, where psychic powers were banned by Imperial Edict – no Space Marine could ever again use psychic powers, or they would face punishment by the Emperor Himself. The Predator – This would have been a great option as well. The price lines up, it’s a vehicle but it’s an older kit. Land Raiders got a nice glow-up in this index, and will be especially valuable for melee focused lists. Their Assault Ramp rule lets your units charge after they disembark, helping get your Possessed and Terminators into the fight. Another buff is that its movement no longer degrades, so it is no longer slower than your footsloggers after taking damage.Weaver of Fates– this gives a 4+ invulnerable save to a nearby Thousand Sons unit. With many Thousand Sons being a little fragile, this one’s crucial for offsetting some of the damage they’ll take. But regardless, of times. it’s still an absolutely fantastic deal when we look at the RRP of GW products. Ahriman deserves special mention here as, while he’s not on the level of Magnus the Red (more on him in a moment), he’s still an incredibly powerful psyker. He gains re-rolls on both casting psychic powers and Deny the Witch attempts, has a beneficial re-roll aura, and even has an improved invulnerable save. Generally speaking, if you have Ahriman’s model, you’re playing Ahriman’s model.

Once upon a time, Lucius was simply a legionnaire of the Emperor’s Children who was exceptionally devoted to mastering the blade. This desire for perfection is common in many of this legion, but Lucius took it to extremes. Eventually, a cure was found – though it, too, arrived with as much curse as benefit. Like many of the Space Marine chapters, the Thousand Sons were separated from their Primarch, and eventually found him on the planet of Prospero. Once reunited, he set about stabilising their genetic structure, enacting a mysterious ritual which cured his gene-sons – but left only a thousand of them alive. One of the more competitive options among the legions in the new book, the Creations of Bile get +1″ movement and +1 Strength on all their units and that translates into an army that wants to go fast and tear you apart in melee. This translates primarily in game terms to taking lots of Raptors and Warp Talons, who benefit the most from going to S5, but it’s plenty frightening on Possessed, Lords Discordant, and some of the Daemon Engines. Fabius Bile himself is only OK but he’s now thankfully optional in a Creations of Bile army. The new Combat Patrol box for Chaos Space Marines replaces the older Start Collecting box, which had a ton of great units in it. The new box gives you:

So you’ve got your Start Collecting! set and a copy of Codex: Space Marines with which to field them, but where next? Well, they’re all Vanguard Space Marines so why not continue that theme with your new additions? When you add a unit to your army you’ll give it a keyword representing its devotion to a particular Chaos God: Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, or Chaos Undivided. There’s a few exceptions: if a unit already has one of these keywords it doesn’t gain another; Psykers can never have the Khorne keyword; and Characters must have the same keyword as the bodyguard unit they join.
