About this deal

Then we thought that we should be looking at Bosch Garden Power Tools rather than just looking at Garden Power Tools or just looking at Bosch products. By combining the two pieces of data it helps to ensure that the prices and analysis we’re carrying out is as accurate as possible and gives you the closest match to the average price of similar products to BOSCH PSM 100 A Multi-pad Sander as possible. Disc sander: A disc sander is probably what most people think a random orbital sander is. The key difference is that they do spin in a fixed motion, much like the wheel on a car. They typically require two-handed operation and, like belt sanders, are better for tougher jobs where lots of material needs removing. The fixed motion means you need to be careful not to leave visible circle marks behind. The entire footpad can be replaced as well. The foam upper is attached with the same hook and loop system as the pads, so you can keep this little sander in service for a long time. Bosch throw in three quality pads- 80, 120 and 160 grit sanding sheets to get you started. It’s a robust feeling palm sander that’s a bit taller and bulkier than the Bosch, but not so much that it’s uncomfortable to use. Weighing just over 1 kg with the battery installed means it’s easy on the arms. The rubber grips are comfortable enough and the power switch is easy to reach with one finger while in use.

The next step in the price analysis was to look at the average price you would typically expect to pay for Garden Power Tools and as Currys PC World was selected for this review we’ve used them for gathering our information on the average price of Garden Power Tools. Ideal for flat surfaces / corners / edgesWorks on multiple surfacesEasy to install/remove sand paper As with any power tool, practice makes perfect, but there are a few techniques I use to get the most out of my detail sanders:The on/off switch is placed right where the tip of your index finger rests, which saves you fiddling around when you need to turn it on. It’s lightweight at 950 g, and the 55 Watt motor gives you all the grunt you need to sand down furniture, surfaces, or just about anything else. Consider the brand. We’ll go into more detail in a moment about brand and whether Bosch is your best option for Garden Power Tools. But the point here is just to make sure you’re factoring in brand when considering the quality of a product. Some brands will be better known for quality than others, and no doubt some of the much higher quality brands will attract a higher price for their products. We used the sanders on a range of different types of wood, including some with large surface areas, and others with hard-to-reach sections. We also used them with different sandpaper grades to evaluate how each one performs. All of the sanders were used for long enough to be able to assess their ergonomics, including weight and dimensions. Ryobi’s R18PS-0 is one of the best cordless palm sanders for DIYers I’ve got my hands on so far. It keeps up Ryobi’s reputation for solid, quality DIY tools that are surprisingly affordable. And if you’ve already got a Ryobi battery to hand, this “naked” palm sander is an absolute bargain. Power– The power of the motor of this mechanized tool also is an important factor. Difficult projects with longer working hours require more powerful motors whereas as if you’re are more of a hobbyist working for perfection in each of DIY projects then go in for the ones that have more control. A mouse sander would be a perfect choice in the case.

Weight – It is obvious that the heavier your tool the more effort is required for its Heavy tools are difficult to maneuver too. If the specifications of tools you have selected are almost the same, it is always better to choose one that is lighter for ease of work.

The WX820 comes with a microfilter dust box and gives you plenty of control thanks to six different speed options. It’s not as powerful as a corded sander, but the battery means you can use it anywhere and is interchangeable with other Worx Powershare tools. This clever little sander is the latest version of the tried and tested B+D Mouse sander. The KA2500K Next Generation mouse sander is a more aggressive and harder working sander for when you need a bit more power. As we covered earlier choosing a brand can be really key to getting the right product in the Garden Power Tools category. There are loads of great brands out there each offering great products at different levels of quality and price. If brand is important to you, we’re sure you already know that Bosch is a great choice. With 276 products available from Bosch there’s plenty of choice too.

There were also a total of 267 products that were more expensive from Bosch and 6 that were cheaper. Price of Bosch products in the Garden Power Tools category Weighing in at 1.3 kg, this “naked” power tool isn’t supplied with batteries. But, it can be powered by any of the Bosch 18 V Power For All battery systems. You can save money if you’ve already bought into their power system though. The Bosch PSM 100 A is probably the best detail sander for furniture restoration because it’s light, comfortable to use and comes in a sturdy Bosch blow moulded case. Japanese tool manufacturer Ryobi have been providing clever solutions for DIYers since 1945. Famous for their ONE+ battery system, you can use just one battery to power almost any type of power tool or accessory you can think of. The rubber soft-grip top fits the hand well. The on/off switch is in just the right spot to be operated with one finger and it’s pretty quiet during operation. It’s good that the vibrations have been kept to a minimum as well. The PSM 18 makes up part of Bosch’s trusted “green” line of DIY level tools. And as the best palm sanders go, this one is a joy to use. The rubberised grip is comfortable and helps to cut down on nasty vibrations. The charge indicator on the front is great for keeping tabs on how much juice you have left too. The design is taller than corded sanders and you have to factor in the weight of the battery, which also gets in the way of the grip a fair bit, but it’s easy to use and offers three different speed settings giving you good control. A maximum speed of 11,000opm (orbits per minute) isn’t particularly high but the DBO180Z makes up for it somewhat with a large 2.8mm orbit diameter. Dust extraction is above average and the machine is quiet in operation.

This is a handy little sander that is effective in sanding wood and paint before re-painting. I have had good results with this but I've noticed that although the finish is very smooth any swirls left by coarse sanding are noticeable after painting. I think you need to ensure they are completely removed by a fine grade sanding paper first but they are difficult to see. The pointed end enables the sander to get into places that a square or rectangular couldn't.

The best sanders you can buy in 2023

The design of this sander has been perfected over the years, and you can really tell. The shape fits the hand nicely, and there are several rubberised patches that fit your thumb and fingers to maximise grip and manoeuvrability. And even though it’s small, the sanding pad is an impressive 140 mm ² .
