About this deal

Unfortunately, there is no power cable strain relief installed, so this is one of the first prints i did. Mwww has a great design available on Thingiverse. Please make sure you print this upgrade because without proper strain relief on the heatbed cable, issues may occur and considering there’s mains voltage in those cables this can be a death hazard. The Artillery Sidewinder X1 is equipped with a large 310 x 310 mm glass-coated textured heat bed that allows for large-format 3D printing. It accounts for improved layer bonding and provides just enough adhesion to create PLA prints without heating the bed. Besides, it offers impressive heating speed and can heat up to 60°C in just 50 seconds and reach 100°C in less than two and a half minutes. Taking into account that the bed is quite large, it offers excellent heating speed. The maximum build plate temperature is 130°C.

Please note that installing a custom firmware involves removing the printer cover, so a bit more experience is needed. Besides that, warranty will be void if you open the cover. Printing after Sidewinder X1 calibration By using this belt, no “drooping” of the X axis was encountered during my testing. Lead screw stabilization bearings are also installed. I had issues in the past with these, but on the Sidewinder X1 there’s no issue for me. 4. X axis assembly The Sidewinder X1 takes its design cues from the Creality CR-10, so it’s pretty comparable in terms of not only design but price and functionality. The print volume is identical but Creality offers other models with even bigger print volumes whereas Artillery doesn’t. printers are good for all kinds of projects. They’re great for small businesses to create prototypes or for large businesses to manufacture objects. They’re also great learning tools for small children as well as students of all ages.

Lead screws are kept in sync by the belt in the top, which is nice to see. On my Creality CR 10S PRO, the main issue i had was with bed leveling. Because of the weight of the X assembly, the lead screws would get out of sync causing fist layer issues. The extruder assembly, including the LED’s, hotend, fans and motor is powered using a single flexible flat cable that plugs into the side. I really like this design because it makes the whole printer look a lot better eliminating the need for wire management. The mainboard, touchscreen, and power supply are all stored on the base unit so it looks more uniform, it’s much more convenient, and it adds to the design rather than detracting from it. In addition, both Z-axis spindles are connected to a loose or non-adaptable GT2 toothed belt, which is intended to enable synchronous up and down movement. The two Z-axes are connected with a toothed belt (GT2). Due to popular request, the Sidewinder X1 Firmware containing the BLTouch settings is currently available.

This glass plate has very good adhesion and a very smooth surface. When the heated bed cools down, the adhesion decreases and you can easily remove your finished artwork. The dual Z-axis ensures more synchronous movements and high print precision. This ensures that the X-Carriage is always moved parallel to the building board, even if one of the Z-axis stepper motors fails. When you have multiple lines, mark the representative line. In my example /dev/serial/by-id/usb-1a86_USB_Serial-if00-port0. When using PuTTY, it's instant in your clipboard. Then The added length of the nozzle can melt filament better, so you may be surprised that your filament can print better if you lower the temperature a bit. With some 3D printers, you have to be careful as the 2-4 screws were never tightened. The Z-spindle always needs a bit of play. However, this often led to lost screws during transport.

On my Sapphire Plus I installed a pair and they work great. I didn’t need them, but I had them around and just used them. After installing I noticed a little improvement on the layer quality on the Z axis. Considering these are pretty cheap, I think the jaw couplers with rubber interface are a recommended Sidewinder X1 upgrade for anyone.

Pros and Cons

Overall, the performance of the Sidewinder X1 is excellent. However, as i mentioned before, you may want to print an alternative fan for cooling your print jobs in addition to a filament spool holder. Most of my recommendations and calibration tips involve modifying values in the EEPROM. Unfortunately, the Sidewinder X1 arrived with EEPROM disabled and this makes things a bit harder to setting the machine properly. The Sidewinder X1 has two Z steppers. Therefore, the X-axis does not “sag” or “hang” at an angle from a certain height. A toothed belt “synchronizes” both Z-axes. Like I said before, the menu is colorful and easy to use. You touch it and it responds accordingly. Built-in features like resume print and the filament runout sensor work great. As a bonus, the heated bed stays heated while you add more filament.
