About this deal

Surface Preparation - Before using this product ensure all surfaces to be painted are clean and dry with no dirt, grease, rust or flaking paint. Areas affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with an appropriate fungicidal wash. Metal surfaces: Remove rust using Hammerite Rust Remover. On new galvanized surfaces, allow to weather for six months before application. New bare wood: To ensure 6 year weather protection is achieved, prepare bare wood with Weathershield Exterior Preservative Primer+ (BP), wiping off any excess. Surface defects should be repaired using the appropriate Polycell product. uPVC: Apply direct to clean substrate.

The drying time is similar to the recoat time. It's 4hours for both Weatheshield All Weather Protection & Ultimate Protection. Begin by laying down a dust sheet underneath the area that you will be working in, to prevent any primer or paint spillages from staining your floor. Then clean the surface you will be working on with soap and a sponge, removing any algae, mould or surface coating, and allow the area to dry. Tape up any metal hardware such as handles or doorknobs with masking tape prior to priming and painting, to prevent stains and paint splatters. Application: Brush only. Do not spray. SHAKE THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE. Apply by brush to all affected areas. Leave for 24 hours then thoroughly rinse and scrub with water to remove residues and dead growth; failure to do this may result in discolouration of subsequently applied coatings. Repeat the process if necessary. On badly affected areas the use of high pressure water-hosing may be necessary to remove all organic growth completely. Do not apply in wet weather.

Weathershield is a specialist range of paint for exterior masonry, wood and metal that uses advanced technology to help withstand the elements, so your paint will look better for longer. What is the drying time for Weathershield All Weather Protection and Weathershield Ultimate Protection? Our Weathershield range isn’t available in matt or eggshell. Weathershield Masonry is available in Smooth or Textured finish, and our exterior paint comes in gloss, high gloss and satin finish.

We know your home is precious to you, so it’s natural that you want to protect it. With Dulux Weathershield Masonry, you’re not only protecting the outside of your house, you’re taking care of what’s inside it, too. We wouldn’t recommend it. Lime render needs paint that allows a completely free passage of water vapour and has low tension as it dries. Lime render is quite friable, and needs specific paint, such as a mineral silicate one. Try specialist company Keim, which has a range of mineral paints for use inside and out. Weathershield Ultimate Protection is a superior offering to Weathershield All Weather Protection, thanks to its Alkali Guard technology: Seals, Primes & Strengthens. This will depend on the product. Weathershield Smooth Masonry paint is available in 19 shades, whereas Weathershield Textured Masonry paint comes in 6 shades. For a full list of Weathershield products and the colours they are available in, visit dulux.co.uk. Yes, Weathershield products are micro-porous and breathable, allowing moisture and air to be released. However, they aren’t suitable for lime render (please see below).

Ensure no rain is forecast as the paint is only weather-proof when dry, and get to work on day when the temperature is between 8 and 25 degrees Celsius. If our Weathershield Smooth Masonry and/or Textured Masonry paint should peel or flake, or if there’s mould growth within the paint film for as long as you live in your home, we promise to return the value of a replacement product to you*. If you’re looking to refresh your uPVC doors, then choosing the right paint for your project is just as important. One of the easiest ones to use is our Dulux Weathershield Multi-Surface paint. You can apply it directly to your uPVC door without the need for a primer. Plus, it guarantees to give you 6 years of weather protection, to keep your uPVC door looking great for longer. For help with working out the amount of Weathershield paint you’ll need, read our article on calculating paint.Instructions for Use - Stir thoroughly before use to ensure the paint is completely mixed. Apply two coats by brush or roller, allowing 4 hours between coats. Tip: Apply only in dry conditions, above 10°C and when bad weather is not forecast. If applying on uPVC, the use of light colours only, particularly on south facing elevations is recommended to avoid solar heat gain damaging the uPVC. Again, this will vary depending on which Weathershield product you use. Weathershield All Weather Smooth Masonry paint typically provides coverage of 15m2/L, compared to 9m2/L coverage for Weathershield All Weather Textured Masonry paint. Weathershield Ultimate Protection Smooth Masonry paint provides coverage of 12m2/L. The coverage is different for other products in the Weathershield range. What is the difference between Weathershield All Weather Protection and Weathershield Ultimate Protection Masonry Paints? If your colour choice is much darker or lighter than the original, apply a primer to help your new paint colour adhere better to the surface.
