About this deal

As a lightweight option to toss in your bag for camping or backpacking trips, Therm-a-Rest’s compressible pillow is an excellent choice. If you want a versatile travel pillow, this is simply too stiff, too small and too slippery to be of use. A brand-new, unused and unworn item that is not in its original retail packaging or may be missing its original retail packaging materials (such as the original box or bag). It requires an illustrated guide to do so, however, and on its own doesn’t offer very much neck support.

Actually getting that cover on and off the S3’s memory foam insert proved trickier than we’d have liked, but it held up perfectly well in a standard wash cycle. We admit it, we’re huge followers of the motto “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and we were initially sceptical about the butterfly profile of this pillow. Most travelers stuff as much as they can in their suitcase, arrive super early to the airport to check in their luggage, and pray it’s waiting for them once they land.I tested these travel pillows over the course of two months (at the same time as my review of the best packing cubes). In cramped air cabins, cars and trains, the low-profile design gently cradles your head at the correct angle – allowing the spine to rest in its natural position to reduce aches and pains. Any time a product can serve two purposes, my ears perk up, and, thanks to this dual-purposed neck pillow, they now rest easily in flight as well.

We asked Ryanair, which has one of the smallest cabin bag allowances (a 40 x 20 x 25cm bag to fit under the seat in front), if we could take a travel pillow on board as part of its free baggage allowance. There’s a lot of debate online about whether you should actually wear it backwards, with the gap at the back, to provide more support for your chin and allow your head to lay flat against the chair behind. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. Unlike traditional U-shaped travel neck pillows, it has full 360-degree memory foam neck support so your head and neck won't bounce around, and still compresses down to 60% of its expanded size for easy transport. If stiff travel pillows aren’t for you, perhaps this wrap around Infinity Pillow might suit you better. The material is memory foam, with a clip at the front, and it really does secure your neck in place – a little too well, I found. In 2009, Tubular Travel was born from a fantastic partnership between Paul and Donna Cooper Mellion, then husband and wife. There’s no hook to hang it off backpacks, but we loved the buckle-style clip, which meant we could quickly and easily tweak the fit (something which press studs don’t allow). This pillow is definitely better than most camping pillows but if you’re anything like me and are really quite fussy about where you lay your head, I fear you won’t be impressed. It conveniently attaches to the back of any seat for extra support, but it just isn’t very comfortable.
