About this deal

There is also an interesting lesson in inflation in the school yard, not to mention several good examples of the corrupting influence of money. I rated this novel a 3 out of 5 because although the novel had a great message in it the story itself was confusing at times. Damian and Anthony are well written characters, but I think the way they were written would have been more appropriate for boys older than them.

But what would you do if a massive bag of cash dropped from the sky and you had only a few days to spend it before it became worthless? They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Damian, who makes his hermitage by the train tracks, encounters a bag stuffed with millions and millions of pounds, about to be destroyed as Britain (in this book's universe) is about to convert its currency to the euro.Because the story is told from the sweetly naive perspective of Damian, it is filled with many silly but poignant observations. I liked the theme of the story and I thought it told a very important lesson that everyone should learn, however I was indifferent about the book as a whole. This was a really cute story about growing up, and learning about how great (and burdensome) money can be.

There's just one problem -- they have only seventeen days to spend all the money before it becomes worthless. But with only 17 days left before the national currency switches to Euros and the money becomes worthless, this proves to be much more difficult than they had anticipated. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. However I think that making the characters younger helped me to relate to them a little bit and I’m sure other people experience some of the situations that are touched upon in this book. The end showed how throughout the whole novel the boys’ went through so much for their money and that showed a lot about how greed can control you. Damien's literal take on life, his pure heart, and his obsession with the lives of catholic saints is classic Cottrell Boyce and is both hilarious and poignant.

Two bothers, Damian and Anthony, are unwittingly caught up in a train robbery during Britain's countdown to join the Euro. ONE USUAL DAY, DAMIAN SAW A BAG FULL OF MONEY FALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM FROM THE SKY AND THE 2 BOYS TRY TO SPEND THE 229370 POUNDS STERLING FULL OF BAG IN 17 DAYS BEFORE THE CURRENCY CHANGES.

The pair have big decisions to make, needing to reconcile their wildly different ideas about what to do with the cash. Damian, on the other hand, feels the “weight” of the money on his shoulders, and constantly looks for needy people and good causes whom he can help out.

Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Sometimes the boy sounds like something of a savant, but all the same the book is extremely funny and a heart warming tale, well told. All I can tell from Frank Cottrell Boyce based on his jacket info is that he looks like Alan Cumming's brother and he has 7 kids.Suddenly finding themselves with a vast amount of cash, the boys have just one glorious, appalling dilemma -- how to spend it in the few days before it becomes worthless. The boys’ are scared she is going to replace their mom when Dorothy makes lasagna from scratch just like their mom used to and they don’t want a new mom.
