I felt like I was on a ride with this story, flipping back and forth between what I thought about Kit and connecting together the clues. It was partly inspired by Karen’s Scottish roots: her father’s family came from Skye, moving to Fort William where Karen was christened and where many of her family still live.

Appuntamento a mezzanotte è un romanzo dolcissimo e pieno di buoni sentimenti che si attorcigliano come fili di lana. Instead of drowning us in Clover and Kit, she made sure the moments we had with them together resonated and completely stole our focus. With the snowy location this story felt wonderfully festive, even though the festivities were not the focus of the story.The story can feel a little lacklustre at times – Clover has to try and wear Kit down, and she is a determined young woman – but comes into its own towards the end. I thought my complete lack of knowledge of these topics would cause problems, but the training and skills are clearly explained without spoiling the pace of the story. Clover is an awarding winning documentary maker, focusing on those who have been wronged to give them a voice. I’m no prude, but a Christmas story liberally sprinkled with bad language just doesn’t even deserve the three stars.

Ho faticato a concludere “APPUNTAMENTO A MEZZANOTTE” per il ritmo lento e pesante che, solo a tratti, mi ha coinvolto. However the accident appears to have been caused by the actions of another surfer, Kit, whose career is ended perhaps as a result of the documentary and the accident. Il romanticismo la fa da padrone soprattutto nel periodo natalizio che fa da contorno alla storia d’amore di due anime tanto belle. Peccato che tra i due l’odio sia tangibile, perché se lei lo detesta per ciò che lui ha fatto a Cory, lui non può dimenticare che tutto il suo universo è stato distrutto proprio da quella donna. Insgesamt war das Buch eine gute Unterhaltung, aber hatte für mich hier und da ein paar Schwachstellen. As the snow boarding competition heats up, can Clover really find out the truth, and thaw Kit’s icy heart. Man erfährt ja schon von Clover relativ wenig, da sie uns als Leser nie so richtig in ihren Kopf lässt, man hat ständig das Gefühl, sie wäre nicht ganz greifbar.
