About this deal

Graham is a passionate LEGO collector, who has a penchant for the Castle, Pirates, and Western themes. Extended the set to include a sports stadium, Tokyo Central station and train tracks, office block, more houses, a noh theatre and a small shinto shrine… The red riffle tower is cheap and sky tree is wrong, no large black bits and the bendy bits look awful. On the positive side, I also noticed a lot of intriguing printed parts featured this set (especially for the Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower), which I look forward to discovering in more detail as we get into the review.

I had been waiting for this set, as I lived in Tokyo for 13 years, and frankly this is disappointing. This feels like cheating, and it decreases the usefulness of the parts if you decide to disassemble the set and use the parts to build something else. Even new LEGO® architects can enjoy this easy-to-build architecture model kit, and it makes a cool creative Japanese gift for adults aged 16+ who have been to Tokyo, dream of visiting, or live/have lived there. Celebrate the cultural centre of Japan and its most iconic landmarks with our premium, wall-mounted display case for the LEGO® Architecture Tokyo (21051) set, including easy front panel access to the model. However, this set is a better model and display piece than Dubai and San Francisco, and the Japanese capital is a more appealing destination to have in LEGO form. The Tokyo Architecture Set 21051 is built using 547 pieces, comes with a Tokyo base nameplate and measures 11" high, 10" wide and 3" deep.

The high-quality elements and sophisticated subject matter means that these sets appeal strongly to an older audience, which is good news from an investment perspective, as serious LEGO collectors tend to be adults. More model, and helping the finished model to stand out when compared to previous Skylines sets which have lacked natural landmarks. While the Tokyo Tower is 9 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower, it’s nearly half the weight due to the differences in building materials.

From iconic landmarks to city skyline models, there’s something for anyone interested in architecture, travel, history and design. The base is too wide, and I continue to find the use of four windscreen elements to be an inelegant facsimile for the base of the towers. Tile (part 2555) in 194 Medium Stone Grey Light Bluish Gray, with White Crosswalk Pattern (element 6286223).
