About this deal

They say this "poor air quality is a leading cause of premature deaths," adding that "each year some 1,300 people die as a result of fine particulate matter, primarily associated with domestic solid fuel burning.

Composed of decaying vegetation, primarily sphagnum moss, over thousands of years, this turf encapsulates over 6000 years of natural history. If you have never experienced the magical smell that is given off from this type of fuel then you have never lived!

Many people believe that the new laws, which became effective on Halloween, October 31, outlaws the burning of turf with some wondering how they will heat their homes this winter and into the coming years if they cannot source or burn fuel.

These turf fire logs are also a great way ad flavor to food by tossing a sod on outdoor grill while cooking meats. The wonderful aroma of turf/peat burning in a fireplace is for many people as much a part of Ireland as Guinness! The changes were long-touted and tightened the rules on the sale of solid fuels like turf and coal across the country. Similarly, Minister Jack Chambers said nothing has changed with regard the enforcement of the separate Air Pollution Act, which dates back to the 1980s, and falls on local councils to implement.Would you like to have the unique and unmistakable smell of an Irish open Turf fire in your own home with out the fire? If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. From a more scientific view point, burning peat is a low sulphur alternative to burning logs or coal and provides a superb heat output and a long lasting burn. Our peat is all sourced from Ireland and is from an area where there are open marsh lands that produce some of the best peat in the UK.

These sods of Turf, or Peat, are harvested by hand from Cappabane Mountain Bog in East Clare, Ireland. If using fuels from outside Ireland, it is the homeowners responsibility to know if they adhere to these new regulations. Under the regulations the following new health standards for solid fuels apply since October 31 this year: Coal products and manufactured solid fuels must have a smoke emission rate of less than 10g/hour; Manufactured part biomass products must have a smoke emission rate of less than 5g/hr; Coal products and manufactured solid fuels, including manufactured part biomass products, must have a sulphur content of less than 2% by weight on a dry ash-free basis. The bottom line is this; the government wants to cut down on the sale of turf and smoky coal to reduce the harm caused to our air.It states that people excessively burning solid fuels can face a hefty fine of almost €13,000 or imprisonment but it's rarely if ever enforced to that level.

Again, Peat is an aromatic fuel and our peat fuel options are suitable for open fires, multi fuel stoves, chimineas, fire bowls and fire pits.

We have a room in our house that we turned into a mini Irish pub, so I burn the turf in the Incense Burner Ceramic Cottage sitting on our fireplace mantle, while sipping Irish whiskey. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. Light the fire using wood or other fuels and when you are ready to settle down beside the fire add in 2 or 3 Irish turf fire logs.
