About this deal
You can totally see too, the influence of Made in Chelsea with some of her friends - I rather enjoy that too! She’s such a bad ass, with a dark dark sense of humor, a lot of sarcasm in her and a little sweet edge. I've been trying to come up with any aspects that I liked about this book, but I seriously couldn't think of anything. As How To Kill Men and Get Away With It ticks along, Brent threads a very tight needle between the seriousness of the above-mentioned themes and insanely dark humor, poignantly.
She exacts the maximum penalty, you could say, and does it with panache, wit and a skill that any hit-person would admire. The way you analyze the plot and characters while maintaining a sense of mystery makes me eager to read the book. I realised, when I saw this book on a table at Waterstone’s while waiting for a haircut that I should not really like it – the story – or her, Kitty and her often vacuous girlfriends. Her first person perspective can be a little twee and repetitive at times, and I’m not sure that we really delve too far into her character so as to make her deeply complex, but as the story stands she’s enjoyable and just a bit wicked in a very fun way. This book hurts to read, and holy sh*t does it make you feel uncomfortable, but at the same time you’ll be cheering on Kitty and her bloody mission, because at the end of the day, there’s that rageful kernel inside of you that can say nothing and just claps along instead. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.
All of this comes together to create a taught thriller that brings the reality of what women deal with while making you laugh along the way. Overall, a tongue-in-cheek revenge comedy-drama that was definitely over-the-top and so very entertaining. This book exceeded all expectations was relatable with current times and the issues women genuinely face. You should realise by now that I’m a fan of dark humour, so clearly when this kept on appearing on my Facebook, I was intrigued.Yes, I get that the author was probably trying to empathize Kitty's priorities there, but I still found it dumb.
I liked how she stood up for her friends when they were treated less special than her at public events. This was shaping up to be a dark Finlay Donovan-esque book, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be for me 😢 The reason I finished this is because I was hoping and praying it was sort itself out for at least a three star but. After reading How to Kill Men and Get Away with It, I will add her next book to my TBR, no questions asked.
