About this deal

Motion was also reasonably good with 24fps material looking decent for the most part, with only occasional judder noticeable with Ultra Smooth Motion switched off.

I bought a new TV, after a good 5 years using a 32” 1080p ‘dumb’ TV, I finally upgraded to this, a 50” 4K TV from HISENSE. Clarified that the 83" Samsung S90C OLED uses a WOLED panel versus QD-OLED on the smaller sizes, mentioned the Hisense UX in the text, and added the Roku Plus Series QLED to the Notable Mentions. You won’t much bass here, for one, but the sound is never harsh or grating, and holds up even at higher volumes. It has a near-instantaneous response time and even faster input lag than the Hisense, so it's a better choice for competitive or retro gamers.

For example, the Hisense U8H is a high-end 2022 model, while the Hisense A6H is an entry-level 2022 model. The app permanently runs in the background, though, even when closed, and we had to ‘force stop’ the application to stop it taking up RAM on our phone. Other features include an AI picture processor for upscaling, and Dolby Atmos support for immersive audio is also built-in though the TV obviously only has two speakers. so while it is possible to set it up by yourself it’ll be much easier if you have another person to lend a hand. It's bright enough in HDR for a pleasant viewing experience, and just like the Hisense U8/U8K and Hisense U7K, it supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR, although it doesn't support advanced DTS audio formats like those models do.

It also has customizable wood-finish bezels to match your living room, and the zero-gap wall mount allows it to sit flush against your wall. The colours are decent, but since it’s only an 8bit + FRC panel, you only get 100% coverage of the sRGB spectrum, rather than a wider color space like DCI-P3. bandwidth ports with a 60Hz panel, so you lose out on the 144Hz refresh rate of the more expensive models. The stand design, MSRP, and release date are still being finalized, but we'll update this when we know more. For thrillers and action movies, then, the U7QF won’t be your best option, though it’s still a minor issue that won’t outright ruin your casual watching.

You’ll also get dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Rakuten TV, Prime Video, and Freeview Play – essentially all the apps you’re most likely to use – meaning you have plenty of handy shortcuts. To hook up your set-top box or consoles, there are three HDMI ports here, one of which is HDMI eARC so you’ll be able to hook up your soundbar to it as well. It also has fantastic reflection handling with very good HDR peak brightness, so it's no slouch in a bright room. The Smart TV system is also up to scratch with a good selection of apps and this set would be perfectly suited to a kitchen or bedroom role within most homes. This is what we would expect to see at this end of the market and means that the HDR picture performance, even in Dolby Vision, will only have a peak brightness of 250 nits before clipping. Most notably, this model doesn't have local dimming to enhance its contrast and is dimmer than the more expensive alternative.
