About this deal

While hunting with the Garrett ACE 250 lately, I’ve got a feeling that I leave finds behind (and so it was). I’d definitely recommend it and when I uncover that hoard of Viking gold I’ll be sure to update you! Don’t be fooled by the model design, as far as looks and design go the machine still looks very similar to the Garrett Ace 150, with the addition of a few extra buttons, they have opted to keep the simplicity.

If only she realized what she had accomplished, and what level, in terms of crossing a time-barrier, she achieved within just two hours of relic hunting. If you are just becoming acquainted with the Ace 250, you will be stunned by the multitude of features and controls packed into it.We used a reasonable minimum of Discrimination and set the Sensitivity level just a little below a 'stability point'. Most attempts to modify the Garrett ACE 250 are associated just with volume control (screen backlight ranks second, making an underwater metal detector from the ACE 250 comes third). At first glance the housing face looks simple enough to operate, with a good-sized LCD screen, three push pads, and three adjustable +/- pads.

Having never metal detected before, with Garrett Ace 250, she managed to recover more finds than the experienced guys with the Minelab E-Trac multi-frequency detectors! your in a high trash area ,i got tired of hearing the sounds and thought my detecter was bad so i started digging every tone, and yes cans, pop tops, nails bottle tops foil from ciggerett packs, even wrappers that contained foil, you can reset your 250 by holding power button until you here it go beep beep, good luck and remember dig everything until u know your strong signals from trash, good luck. Overall this is an easy machine to use to the point that my 10-year-old got the hang of it within 5-10 minutes. The user will be amazed at the excellent depth gained with 50% to 75% sensitivity in this low-cost detector. As you can see in the accompanying photo, the LCD's left side lists the modes available, the center indicates sensitivity level, and the right side the depth readings.Garrett Ace 250 metal detector can be used for Dry/Fresh Water Sand (sand above the tide line where salt mineralisation has not dispersed, wet or dry fresh water sand).

In addition, when the batteries are half-discharged, ACE 250 starts to lose its depth of detection (in about an inch). If you’re desperate to get out there you can go with the factory pre-sets and the machine sorts out the controls for you. However, while it is indeed simple to operate, a closer look makes it apparent that it took some engineering ingenuity to incorporate so many electronic abilities into this easy to use format. It also displays the battery level which was very helpful because the Garrett 250 used a good quarter of the battery power over 5 hours.

Starting in the Jewelry Mode at the next park, it didn't take me long to decide that digging pulltabs was no fun. Be aware of the washers here – they have three small points that need pushing into the matching holes. Thanks to the LCD display you will always have useful information in plain sight: both target identification (gold, silver, bronze, etc. It’s great to have choice over the machine and the sensitivity is an important feature, but I’d say it’s for when you’ve got more experience.
