It portrays a theme across to children that it isn't worth being selfish as it can lead to consequences. She goes to visit her Grandma on holiday but little does she know she is in for a surprise which will teach her to change her ways.

Her work has appeared on screen, with Pig-Heart Boy, which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, being adapted into a BAFTA-award-winning TV serial. Malorie Blackman’s excellent story entertains with humour, perfectly matched with Matt Robinson’s illustrations which superbly bring Ellie and her animal chums to life. Ellie discovers the importance of kindness and friendship and the satisfying ending resolves the family problems that lead to her challenging behaviour.
