The plate is very secure on the magnetic base and doesn't want to move, however using the little tabs will come of when you want it to. However, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase for any reason, ELEGOO provides a straightforward warranty that is processed in the most hassle-free way possible. Awesome; trying to think of reasons why this hasnt been done yet; then again I dont think there is a reason why it hasnt been done on all fdm printer yet either; sometimes someone just has to do the obvious, to get the herd moving, and this seems like one of those cases.
Please refer to the warranty policy below, as warranty periods and warranty rules differ according to the models and parts list. What used to take me 20 minutes and somehow leave me with cuts now takes a minute tops, thanks to these.
Some mention that the magnetic part sticks well to the build plate, the adhesive is strong, and the backing sticks very well to it. I also oriented the magnets with opposing polarity to force the magnetic flux to close though the steel sheet to get enough adhesion. update* I've added a MK 2 build plate mount that sits a bit deeper in the dunk tank, there's one with and one without water vents to to allow water with your desired cleaning fluid or denture tablets to cover the top of the build plate and help. Additionally you need to replace the 2 screws with matching ones, because the original ones are too short, of course.
I don't know if its needed or not but I do it on my FDM flex plate, but I roughed up / lightly scratched the surface in random directions with some wire wool that came with the FDM plate.After printing, the flexible build plate can be detached from the magnetic base and the print can be removed more easily by gently bending it. I had to use an 8" coarse wire wheel in a 3600 rpm bench grinder to get that damned water washable crap off the plate. The extra space when upgrade to magnetic print bed make the Z limit sensor not activate when homing. Also, my first build plate looks pretty bad visually by now, but not a single problem still with builds falling off.
REMEBER you MUST relevel the bed following the manufacturers instructions for your individual printer, in some cases you may need to add a spacer for the Z axis sensor, in regards to the Elegoo Mars 2 the sensor is not needed, just make sure you loosen the nuts fully before leveling.
