In Part 2, Nikki and her BFFs Chloe and Zoey read a party planning book for really cool birthday party ideas. I think she's changed the books' target demographic to much younger and I don't have a problem with that. Nikki tried to bring Brianna back home, but she wouldn’t listen to and neither would the other people. I liked of when Nikki had a nigtmare about her party because it was funny and it made me exaggerated. If Nikki and her friends made it through a book without miscommunication causing all sorts of problems I’d be shocked.As always, Russell delivers a funny yet plot-twisting story, geared toward children and young teens. Chloe, Zoey and Brandon have proven their loyalty time and time again, yet Nikki still questions their friendship and deliberately keeps things from them. Nikki doesn’t particularly enjoy spending time with her mother, but today, she accepts the invitation to go to Yoga class. She still hasn’t decided if she will be spending two weeks in Paris (all expenses paid) or going on tour with her band (you know, totally normal people problems), she’s annoyed by her sister’s culinary mash ups and freaking out about whatever potential disaster may unfold during the birthday party her two best friends are planning for her. She went downstairs and found a mess in the kitchen from Brianna cooking with her sugarplum baking kit.

But, when she tries to explain to her best friends, Zoeysha Franklin and Chloe Garcia, that she can't have a birthday, they think she wants to have a pool party, and Chloe and Zoey get so excited that Nikki can't say no to the party. Yet again another great Dork diary book comes out and it's a great read when I have nothing to read. They've got the perfect plan, but a couple of roadblocks stand in their way, will it still be a success? But of course, she switched to the band and I couldn't help thinking that was the illustrator chickening out of drawing a tourist attraction outside of the Eiffel Tower.I admit it was predictable, so predictable that she mentioned one sentence and I was able to skip to the next few pages to confirm exactly what I had thought would happen.

And I can see Nikki does kind of whine and doesn't exactly solve her problems like I would or some others might. Nikki gets as birthday present a new bicycle, replacing her old one that she mentioned in Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess. An like with her first 7 books and the 9th book I feel like Russell did great with them and everything was amazing but.She’s got a loving family and friends and used to have cute little dramas at school that pretty much anyone could relate to. What I feel is that in this book, Andrea might develop a crush on Nikki 😋and this might lead to a grudge between Brandon and him. The party is fun, until Tiffany Davenport and Mackenzie tells Nikki's crush, Brandon Roberts, Zoey, and Chloe, that Nikki decided to go on her all-expenses-paid trip to Paris, France instead of on the Bad Boyz tour with her band, Actually, I'm Not Really Sure Yet. Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Happy-Birthday, also known as Birthday Drama, is the 13th book in the Dork Diaries series.

It felt like the good old days when the series was just starting with Nikki and her friends doing crazy stuff that would get them arrested. Meanwhile her rascal little sister Brianna becomes obsessed with baking and even starts up a little dog treat business with Nikki's help as it benefits her and funds her dream as we discover! Nikki and her friends find the cards, but bumped into a man and lost the invitations with all the mail. This could show students that they could create writing that appears to also be from the viewpoint of a diary or journal.

But, I do respect the point that Rachel is trying to keep her readers hooked in and probably has everything solved at the last minute/last book. Not saying that Hollister isn't a butt, she is, but still Nikki could have done a lot of different things to prevent all her drama. I understand that catchphrases can be important in the continuity of a series but I would have liked to have seen some new ones added to the ones that have been used for 13 books now.
