About this deal

There's lot of details and insider info on other beloved characters and happenings in Only Fools and other shows, so this is a real super treat for all the fans. Giving up on an unloved career as an electrician, he turned his attention to acting and soon, through a natural talent for making people laugh, found himself working with the leading lights of British comedy in the 1960s and '70s: Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Bob Monkhouse and Ronnie Barker. She gave birth to twin boys at North Middlesex Hospital in Edmonton, London, in February 1940, but Jason's twin brother died during childbirth, making him a twinless twin. In 1999, Jason starred as Captain Frank Beck in BBC's feature-length drama All the King's Men about the Sandringham regiment lost in World War I. Born the son of a Billingsgate market porter at the height of the Second World War, the author spent his early life dodging bombs and bullies, both with impish good timing.

It wasn't until 1981, kitted out with a sheepskin jacket, a flat cap, and a clapped-out Reliant Regal, that David found the part that would capture the nation's hearts: the beloved Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. David Jason : My Life is the name of the unique autobiography by Britain’s best-loved actor and our very own Derek “Del-Boy” Trotter. He tells of his early television work in the 1960s with Do Not Adjust Your Set, how he was bypassed for Corporal Jones in Dad's Army and Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, and how he eventually landed the roles for which he is best-known. It is an urban myth that a young David White, when told by Equity there was already a member with that name, chose the surname Jason as a tribute to his dead twin – I have heard this myself numerous times over the years and David quickly tells the reader the truth. For us, seeing him as Sir David, with his many BAFTA awards, it might be difficult to imagine that there was a time before Only Fools And Horses.

He has always been a very private man so was intrigued to read about his early life and really wanted to find out more about Only fools and horses, one of my all time favourite shows. But life hasn’t all been so easy: from missing out on a key role in Dad’s Army to nearly drowning in a freak diving accident, David has had his fair share of ups and downs, and has lost some of his nearest and dearest along the way. I rarely watch television or visit the cinema and I’m not remotely interested in celebrity lifestyle so when My Life by David Jason was chosen for the U3A book group to which I belong my heart sank. The book is so easy to read and the dreaded actor ego does not rear its ugly head fortunately although you can argue that just writing a book about yourself is ego enough. You can actually hear Sir David's voice (or rather Del's Boys) as you read this book, lovely and funny insight to a very private man.

And revisit the ones I am familiar with like Count Duckula and Danger Mouse - I used to love them so much. Sir David also takes a nostalgic tour of his childhood roots in North Finchley - including a visit to his old school - and is on location on his latest project Still Open All Hours. So famous is David Jason as a TV star that it was a surprise to learn he began his acting on the stage. I listened to the audiobook, David Jason read the first chapter, but no further, this jarred a little bit and I never really got used to the second narrator. In September 2017, it was reported that a "credible threat was made to his life", although it is not known why Jason had been targeted.

Through a natural talent for making people laugh, found himself working with the leading lights of British comedy in the 1960s and ’70s: Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Bob Monkhouse and Ronnie Barker. The backdrop to his time in office included the advent of ISIS, surging migration and a rapidly changing EU. Approached by BBC1 controller Danny Cohen in early 2011, he read three scripts and agreed to shoot a pilot for The Royal Bodyguard, which was shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival. In 1979, he appeared as Buttons in the pantomime Cinderella at Newcastle's Theatre Royal, starring Leah Bell and Bobby Thompson, produced by Michael Grayson and directed by John Blackmore.

In this inspiring, uplifting and heartwarming memoir, world-renowned veterinary surgeon Professor Noel Fitzpatrick explores his journey to becoming The Supervet. Jason’s account of his ‘busy and fulfilling life’ is as genuinely genial as the man himself … his hugely likeable memoirs reveal he’s had the last laugh. Jason starred in London Weekend Television's Lucky Feller (1975–76), written by Terence Frisby and produced by Humphrey Barclay. All of which he has worked with, I might add, and yet all except the very end of the biography, which did make me shed a small tear, it seemed hard work. On 26 February 2001, Jason became a father at the age of 61 when his girlfriend, 41-year-old Gill Hinchcliffe, gave birth to a girl in Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. My Life is a hugely entertaining and engagingly written book that I found totally absorbing and interesting. In 1989, Jason starred as Ted Simcock in the ITV drama series A Bit of a Do, aired from January to December. I would love to see Mr Jason's life story depicted on film and I think it has the potential to one day do so! The book almost feels like a friendly visit with David Jason, siping a beverage of choice and exchanging annocdites. Ignoring nearly all rock traditions, experimenting in near-total secrecy in their Dsseldorf studio, Kraftwerk fused sound and technology, graphic design and performance, mo.
