As expected, Scott Brick delivers another excellent narration, although I think the lack of sensitivity in the story-line(s) somewhat limited his ability to portray the emotions within several areas of the book.Chucho broke now, his head drooping, the bumps of the vertebrae thrusting up at the base of his neck like knuckles. Dark Horse is the seventh book in the Orphan X series by best-selling American author, Gregg Hurwitz.

Before the final verdict, let me tell you something I discovered about audiobooks: they're not for me. In this book Mia experiences a health scare, and Evan gets even more involved with the prosecutor and her boy. They moved faster, faster, courting disaster right through the crescendo, and yet impossibly they finished the waltz, eliciting a hailstorm of cheers.As always, there is a lot going on, and the story moves at a very brisk pace, which of course makes it hard to put aside.

Joey is also there and in her true form but all is not wonderful in the world as they still stumble and fumble, trying to find their proper footing together.Chipped nails from working the sorghum fields, jeans with dirt stains at the knees, sun damage ripening his middle-aged face into that of a septuagenarian. If I was to be picky, there is one character who was hinted at towards the end of Prodigal Son and the start of Dark Horse who never materialises - hopefully they will feature in an upcoming chapter, as I think they would really develop Evan's character arc. The Orphan X series has always been about moral ambiguity and the razor-thin line separating right from wrong, but this novel takes Evan even farther down the dark road than he's been before . Then there was Evan’s relationship with Mia and her son Peter, which gave us all some heart palpitations.
