Janet Ahlberg (21 October 1944 – 13 November 1994), née Janet Hall, and Allan Ahlberg (born 5 June 1938) were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries. Preschoolers will enjoy the rhyming text and familiar characters and older children can start to read the story and letters themselves.

He has published over 100 children's books and, with his late wife Janet, created such award winning picture books as Each Peach Pear Plum and The Jolly Postman - both winners of the Kate Greenaway Medal.Got this for christmas at 14 months old he was interested in the pictures and taking stuff out of the envolopes. Innovative, funny and moving, his work encompasses storybooks, picture books, easy readers, joke books and novels as well as poems. Find out what's on Humpty-Dumpty's get-well jigsaw and who has sent Red Riding Hood a board game for Christmas. It takes quite a while to read the book with a child, so much is left for you to discuss together, to comment on, to remember and love. I had this book growing up and bought it for my friend's daughter and these books are one of the best kept secrets.
