It’s very strange that people from South Africa, Australia, Italy and New Zealand have all watched it because it’s on a primetime channel for them so when they visit England they make a little trip to Brighton to come and find us. The design of the book itself is quirky and unlike a traditional recipe books, it feels more handmade and special, just like their creations. Between them, over the last two decades they have shaped and re-shaped the world of cake and chocolate, with their most brilliant team of Doodahs. We arrived early, and were taken upstairs to their cafe where we were offered a complimentary hot drink.

The women are staying tightlipped about the exact details of the royal wedding cake but the Queen might be shocked by the sight of one of Choccywoccydoodah’s most popular wedding designs featuring gothic skulls and the words “till death do us part”. We have never wanted to share our secrets, or allow people to believe that if they follow instructions they could recreate what we do.

Whether it's shortening, nipping, tucking, letting in, letting out or it's adding petticoats, giant bows, straps or applique details. They're well known for how they 'pimp' each of their gowns to make it perfect for the individual girl. Recipes we love: Rocky Road, Chilli Chocolate Cake, Choccy Banoffee Pie and Brighton (Chocolate) Rocks. The crazy creations of team – affectionately known as the Doodahs – displayed proudly in the Meeting House Lane window are now a must-see for every tourist to the city.

The stories are a mix of food related fairy tales, and anecdotes around the Choccywoccydoodah franchise itself.

We’ve got a baker and his assistant and they bake all the cakes, so it’s not just the making of the front it’s quite a lot of time doing anything. I'm always so thrilled when Lisa offers her insight into something as she's pretty much always spot on with her advice! So with the release of the book, we caught up with creative director Christine Taylor for a quick chat about all things Choccywoccydoodah. First of all this is a really luxurious looking book, and left on a coffee table I think it would draw anyone nearby to flick through the beautifully presented pages.

While there are a lot of wonderful recipes throughout the book, there are a few that seem a little unnecessary.
