About this deal

Unable to sleep or find true satisfaction in his daily life, Ko Yamori stops going to school and begins wandering the streets at night. Questo manga lo avevo da diverso tempo in libreria e non so perché non l'ho letto prima ma devo dire che è stata una scoperta, una lettura davvero piacevole. There is a theoretical rule, never observed, that suggests if a vampire loves a human and bites them, then the human dies. Along with the conversations he has while out and about at night, he spends time ruminating on life and the human / vampire condition. While Ko has no feelings, Nazuna is easily flustered by everything and uses dirty jokes to hide it (I’ve never heard the word coitus used for better comedic effect).

The art is a little weird - everyone has buggy eyes - but there's something I found really beautiful about it, too. He initially refuses to let her drink his blood, but he lets her after she admits that she had actually been looking for him that night. There’s a very small amount of love triangle stuff in there, but never really any dramatic tension, and at the end Nazuna finally comes around and decides she wants to be friends with our guy after all. It is later revealed that as he begins to develop more emotionally, he can enter into a half-vampire state.

This is the definition of male-gaze, there are so many panels that are just the legs/crotch of the female (I am aware this is a common thing in the genre but that does not make it okay). She massages Yamori free of charge, but focuses in the more relaxing pressure points of his body, before trying to drink his blood. There is a childhood friend who shows up near the end to complicate things, but this drifted into gross early enough that I'm good. An anime television series adaptation produced by Liden Films aired from July to September 2022 on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block.

Yamori is forced to greet her, and after he finds Nazuna playing in her room, she promises to give him a kiss as a reward for attending her in her place. Nazuna is very fun and cute and her carefree life in contrast with her easy embarrassment when Ko commits to fall in love with her is great.

Back home, Akira runs into a drunk Mahiru Seki, an old friend, who exclaims he is in love with a woman with whom he hangs out at night. Nazuna's a vampire, and she's nominally after Ko's super tasty blood, but once again, there's something else simmering beneath the surface. To be honest, once I realized that was going to be a love sex farce with a middle school aged protagonist? Nazuna constantly refers to vampirism as the vampires' equivalent of coitus, embarrassing Ko, and Ko reminds her that love is an essential part of the equation, embarrassing her. In questa storia troviamo Yamori, un ragazzo cupo che ama passeggiare di notte e proprio in quel momento inconta Nazuna, una vampira.

He decides he wants to become a vampire, but to do so he needs to fall in love with the potential vamp-parent. Ko cuts and runs when the pressure of school gets too much, which leads him into the night and to cross paths with the oddly attired Nazuna. This was very different from everything I read so far, there are vampires but it's still a fun read, I'll put it in the horror comedy side, there's both the creepy and fun part. The big plot point arrives (way too late if you ask me) when our hero’s childhood friend comes into the picture. As Midori plans to post photos for the cafe's social media, she notices several creepshots of Arisa uploaded to the same folder, and asks Ko to help her find the culprit. She is willing to hang out with our guy, but often spurns his advances when he tries to consider her an actual friend.
