About this deal

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. After all, no truly happy person feels the need to stand in front of a mirror and recite that she’s happy.

For me, this book is just a preachy retelling of things we already know, written by an average male and, I'm still trying to understand what possessed me to spend actual money on this! You can read periodicals on any NOOK tablet or in the free NOOK reading app for iOS, Android or Windows 8. Very easy to read, not a chore or not like a text book on self help that i would have expected as a first time reader of anything like this. The gist of this "groundbreaking" book is that there's no way to insulate yourself from bad times, and even if you could, those hardships are what make us better people. In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people. Mark Manson’s instructions on casting aside society’s sillier expectations and living a better life are both profane and profound. There are a lot of points in the first half of the book that I agree with: prioritizing fewer things and the right things; defining the right values and what you are willing to struggle for; being addicted to outrage and victimhood to avoid responsibility and acknowledging mistakes; etc.

Be perfect and amazing and crap out twelve-karat-gold nuggets before breakfast each morning while kissing your selfie-ready spouse and two and a half kids goodbye. Actor and voice-over pro Roger Wayne captures most of Manson’s oppositional energy, and he narrates with a lively engagement that only occasionally sounds overdone. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. pk offers educational books such as history, physics, psychology and much more, varying from English literature to children's stories! They know it’s more important than them and their own feelings and their own pride and their own needs. As we get older, we gain experience and begin to notice that most of these things have little lasting impact on our lives.

The casual reader who is not familiar with sexual violence and rape and abuse could easily walk away with the impression that survivors of sexual assault often make up their assault. It starts with funny life comparisons and moves to a more psychological and profound review of life. Because when we give too many fucks, when we choose to give a fuck about everything, then we feel as though we are perpetually entitled to feel comfortable and happy at all times, that’s when life fucks us. Learn how happiness is a problem, follow along the misadventures of Disappointment Panda—my very own kind of superhero—and discover what you truly want out of life in this free chapter from the mega bestseller. Even the almost annoying number of 'f*cks' diminished after a few chapters, to proceed along what felt like a very long rant.

Popular blogger Manson (Models: Attract Women Through Honesty, 2011) criticizes self-help books for their fundamentally flawed approach of telling readers they're special, assuring them that they can surpass--but, notably, not solve--problems, and encouraging them to embrace their exceptionalism. The book would probably be most appealing to straight white men, since there are some parts of advice that would not resonate well with other groups - for example, he talks about the entitlement of victimhood and how that prevents positive change, which is true to a certain extent if we were to look at specific places like twitter, but should not be boasted as blanket statements coming from a white man who admits to coming from a wealthy family. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
