And what’s come out is a collection of brand-new cookie recipes, ideas, and even cookie forms that I have never been more excited about. It’s like she saw me putting a cookie in my Scooby Doo lunch box in 1980 and then re-created that same cookie in 2022. This was the Food52 Baking Club book for the month of May 2023, and I was able to borrow it from the library. This one is as the title states, All About Cookies which makes sense as that is what her bakery were first known for.

There are a lot of bonus toppings, icings and glazes in here, so you're really getting even more recipes than are in the book. I wasn’t looking for any particular recipe - I just wanted inspiration on what can be done with biscuits, and as ever, she delivers that by the bucket load! I was happiest when my head was down, when I was lost in my own imagination, a wooden spoon and a beat-up bowl ready for magic to be made.I'd recommend it more for serious bakers and Milk Bar fans - Tosi is extremely thorough and many of these recipes are pretty involved. Don't get me wrong, I ate three of these bars because they're very chewy and I love blondies, but I would cook the caramel to a light amber before swirling into the batter. I remember my father making me drink the cereal milk when we were on camping trips because he didn’t want to put milk in the trailer’s septic tank or whatever.

I guess my tastes are just more simple, but I'd rather have a really great chocolate chip cookie than one with 10 different mix-ins.
