About this deal

In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money. Anton is one of the most instantly recognisable TV personalities today, best known for his role on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing , which he has featured on since its inception in 2004.

And so far I haven’t been disappointed, my only gripe is that I wished I had read his previous books to get a proper portrayal of the characters, that said the book does go into a slight background on each character so you can get a grip of each of them, I am only about three quarters of the way through so I hope the ending is as good as the rest as been so far. For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. There is such an atmosphere of what it must have been like in that period, from the tension of pre-war, to racism.

There are over 1200 staff at the hotel and hence much goes on behind the scenes led by the director Maynard Charles. When fiercely independent chambermaid Nancy Nettleton first moved to London and the Buckingham hotel, the last thing on her mind was finding love, let alone falling for the debonair demonstration dancer Raymond de Guise. But without a dress to get wed in and her younger brother, hotel page Frank, having a job and a half teaching Lambeth born concierge Billy Brogan how to dance there is plenty of drama. Using the real life experience of the years in the book made the story more believable and interesting. Still reeling from the events of last year, the staff of the Buckingham will have to struggle to keep up the hotel's glamorous reputation.

Du Beke on - a man of many hats to be sure, and he can easily inhabit the mind of a dancer and make a reader feel the sway and rhythm of dance. You can feel in the storyline that there is more to come without it becoming tiresome; I really cannot wait to see where the 4th book takes us. As the band strikes up in the Grand Ballroom to celebrate Nancy and Raymond’s wedding, one thing is certain – this will be a Christmas to remember. Although this is the third book in the series it could easily be read as a standalone - there is enough backstory of the characters for the plot to make sense. It was lovely to revisit all of the characters that we've come to know and love, and even lovelier that there was a touch of festive magic in the air.
