About this deal

Heck, despite all the debris exploding everywhere in this flick, the dialog is a true winner as it always remains loud, clear and intelligible throughout. Watching it the first time, I couldn't help but think that this is the movie that ' Transformers' should have been. Huge metal monsters battle huge organic monsters but so incredibly real that when the film ends you suddenly wonder "where did almost 2 hours go"? Blade Runner 2049 and Ghost in the Shell are also really good looking movies, really pissed we don't get Valerian and a bunch of other movies in 4K HDR on Apple Movies where I live.

But I think it's very clear also that the "4K" version is suboptimal and there is surely much more resolution we can extract if this were a true 4K image. The fight against the apocalypse readies for battle with a fantastic, highly-satisfying Dolby Atmos soundtrack that'll have the house feeling exhausted from the bonkers pandemonium. It provides action with impact; confrontation with consequence; spectacle with significance – it may not be a particularly weighty affair and, no doubt, there will be plenty of hardcore Del Toro fans who somehow expected far more than this from him but that's missing the point. By the time opening day came around, 'Pacific Rim' sat with a healthy Rotten Tomatoes rating in the low 70s – but that didn't matter. And I’ll leave you with this…watch to find out why the color red is so important to GDT in this feature. It was a not insignificant Box Office success, but - more importantly - it was actually quite good, certainly for its ilk, providing Mecha vs. This is by far the loudest and fiercest surround track I have experienced at home thus far this year. It's really the HDR, WCG and Dolby Vision that make all the difference, however, with even the opening Universal banner and ensuing Studio credits having imaginative stylisation that lends itself particularly well towards the theme of enjoying vividly colourful future tech in all its radiant glory, something furthered by all the HUDs and holographic readouts, and even the damn exit signs. John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity's victory against the monstrous Kaiju'.

It's something that always bugged me about the Blu-ray, to the point where I thought my TV settings were off somehow but nope, it's there alright. Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles. And, on top of that, you get a reference quality Dolby Atmos sound mix as well as an UltraViolet code that can be redeemed for VUDU UHD, which includes Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Honoring The Kaiju Tradition (HD, 4:30) – Here we get a tour of the film’s Kaiju lineup as created by the mind of del Toro. Pacific Rim was shot digitally, yielding results reportedly as high as 5K, but is capped by a 2K Digital Intermediate, which has been used here for this Ultra HD Blu-ray release.Pacific Rim was an usual blockbuster, with the scale and impact of a Transformers movie, but the vacuous void at the core of every one of Bay's sound and fury sequels filled - to some extent - by more thoughtful visionary director Guillermo del Toro's sensibilities. With expectations set very low, Pacific Rim Uprising will mildly satisfy fans of the first movie and if taken as pure popcorn escapism. Although dominated by building-shaking, ground-quaking LFE-edged action, it's still an impressively nuanced affair, offering discrete surround dissemination and keen attention to the details - from the tech gear in the Jaegers to the thrum of the energy-pulsing Kaiju. MadVR has separate settings for screenshots, and they could be very different from the settings for video viewing. Tokyo Alley Set Visit (HD, 3:17) – Remember all those explosions in the street during the Kaiju attack when Mako was just a little girl in the film lost in her first drift?

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes--a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)--who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. The film does feature a fair few other moments of Jaegers battling monsters in the ocean, story or otherwise. Then check the image of Mako, how her hair and costume have these dark black blobs of nothing peppered throughout whereas the UHD's grade resolves her hair from root to tip, as they say in the adverts. Littered throughout the movie are scenes of the characters interacting with bright neon-glowing hologram-like user interfaces.

As proven by the box office numbers, the majority of the moviegoers in North America felt the same way.alien monster anime ever created – most notably the seminal Neon Genesis Evangelion– acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro’s mega-budget Summer blockbuster Pacific Rim somehow managed to be more than just the Transformers vs. Media criticism (66) MQA (47) Computer Audio (45) DAC (39) Listening Test (36) Hi-Res Audio (29) Digital Filters (27) Audiophile Philosophy (26) Snake Oil (26) Amplifier (21) Audio Cables (21) Multichannel audio (19) Vinyl (16) Audiophile psychology (15) Audio Shows (14) Jitter (14) Objectivism vs.
