About this deal

Juror 8 is in an struggle, trying to convince all other eleven to leave their prejudices and biases separate from the case, as the life of a sixteen-year old is at stake. There's a little dialogue which, in the audio, was probably about 30 seconds long and which really summed up this book for me. This was a terrific, thought-provoking, and quick read: highly recommended for anyone who enjoys theatre, or stories which concern themselves with themes of the law and justice. On the Norman Lear CBS sitcom All in the Family, Edith Bunker ( Jean Stapleton) is the lone juror who questioned the evidence against the defendant, despite the pressure from her bigoted socialite co-juror ( Doris Singleton) in the first-season episode, "Edith Has Jury Duty".

The 4th Juror coldly states that people from slums are more likely to be violent, which offends the 5th Juror, who grew up in a slum. He gets pissed, or MORE pissed, and the scene devolves into another shouting match, and the moment passes. First of all, go and watch the film version of this with Henry Fonda, as it is one of the greatest films of all time. La acción transcurre en una tarde calurosa de verano de 1957, en una corte de la ciudad de Nueva York y se inicia cuando un juez advierte a los doce jurados sobre su importante labor. We see our readiness to follow the crowd, our inclination to choose convenience over justice, our hidden prejudices, and principally, our aversion for skepticism, facts and penetrating thought.

In the end we are left to wonder if the decision made was the correct one, but at least all points of the case were looked at rather than simply glossed over. But something else, entirely unpredictable, added irony and, in the long run, meaning to my having a fresh look: I happened to do so on the day of Kyle Rittenhouse’s acquittal, at once deservedly infamous, at least in my bubble. I'm not particularly PC or easily offended by inappropriate laughter, but the laughter jarred me badly.

Juror 8 believes there is reasonable doubt while all the other men have ridiculous reasons to simply pass the guilty verdict, from needing to get to a baseball game, to racism, to the relationship between a juror and his own son. Twelve Angry Men is an American courtroom drama written by Reginald Rose concerning the jury of a homicide trial. Following a record-breaking West End season, this powerful production of Twelve Angry Men is back in session!

A blistering character study and an examination of the American melting pot and the judicial system that keeps it in check, Twelve Angry Men holds at its core a deeply patriotic faith in the U.

A 2015 Chinese adaptation, 12 Citizens, follows the plot of the original 1957 American film, while including characters reflecting contemporary Beijing society, including a cab driver, guard, businessman, policeman, a retiree persecuted in a 1950s political movement, and others. A neighbor testified to witnessing the defendant stab his father, from her window, through the windows of a passing elevated train. A blistering character study and an examination of the American melting pot and the judicial system that keeps it in check, Twelve Angry Men holds at its core a deeply patriotic faith in the U. Now, as a crucial first step in making the transition to movies, he enlisted the big-screen talents of Boris Kaufman, cinematographer from Elia Kazan’s stable, where he’d shot On the Waterfront with documentary-like vividness and actuality.Juror 8 remarks that the witness, who was trying to sleep when she saw the killing, would not have had glasses on or the time to put them on, making her story questionable. That is all except for one juror alone who stands questioning whether the boy should be condemned so rashly. In 2003 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the British producer/director Guy Masterson directed an all-comedian revival [6] at the Assembly Rooms, including Bill Bailey as Juror 4, Phil Nichol as Juror 10, Owen O'Neill as Juror 8, Stephen Frost as Juror 3, and Russell Hunter as Juror 9. Angry Men was Lumet's first feature film, and the only producing credit for Fonda and Rose (under the production company, Orion-Nova Productions).
