About this deal

Collaboration:⁣ We foster ‌collaborative efforts⁤ with partners, customers, and ⁤industry⁤ leaders, exchanging ⁣knowledge and⁣ advancing together. Finish: The finish is hot, but still approachable. There are lots of cherries and even some rye spice pops up. Cinnamon spice and burnt caramel stand out the most, but this is overall a finish that is very satisfying. Score: 6.5/10 Final Thoughts My journey began with a vision – a cozy haven where enthusiasts and newcomers alike could gather to share stories, savor exceptional drams, and forge unforgettable memories. Over the years, my bar has become a hub of knowledge, camaraderie, and, of course, the finest selection of whiskeys from around the world. McAfee’s Benchmark Old No. 8 Bourbon is definitely my least favorite regular release from Buffalo Trace. My all-time least favorite BT release was the rice bourbon, but that was a special edition experiment and is among the worst whiskeys I’ve ever had. Thankfully the McAfee’s Benchmark Old No. 8 Bourbon is nothing like it and that’s something we can all be happy about. Benchmark Full Proof Bourbon isn’t the first full proof bourbon by Buffalo Trace. The brand also produces Weller Full Proof, which while bottled at 114 proof, is also bottled at the same proof that it enters the barrel at. Sazerac, who owns Buffalo Trace, also owns Barton 1792 Distillery, which produces 1792 Full Proof that follows the same premise. While full proof aren’t quite barrel proof bourbons, they certainly compete in the same category as other high proof and barrel proof bourbons available in the market. This includes Knob Creek Single Barrel, Booker’s, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and numerous other brands that fit this definition.

Have you tried this, or any of the other bourbons in the Benchmark Bourbon Collection? What did you think? Cheers! It is tough to think of another distillery that sells better products – from top to bottom – than the Buffalo Trace brand. They are practically the gold standardof the industry. How do we know that? Because every Buffalo Trace product they put out seems to be instantly allocated. Benchmark bourbon, from the Sazerac Company and Buffalo Trace Distillery [ 4], is a great bourbon at a great price point.

It blends exceptionally well with Coke and is considered one of the top choices for mixed drinks, alongside Caribbean rums. Although it has the number 8 on the label, this is not an eight-year-old product. It’s aged for three years and is bottled at 40% with a plastic cap and bottle. With a rich legacy‌ and an unwavering focus on the future, Benchmark continues to shape the⁣ world through its relentless ‌pursuit of excellence and groundbreaking innovations. As we take on new challenges, we remain committed to⁤ delivering ‍unmatched value ‌to our customers while driving positive change on a global scale. In car culture, the common adage is “there’s no replacement for displacement.”This applies in the bourbon world too because there’s often no replacement for higher proof.Bob: All right. So we are just at a 49.5/100, so we actually are under that 50 mark or, on average, a 24.75/50. I am not going to recommend buying, I am not going to recommend trying, with the small caveat that this is a single barrel, so I have no idea what the variation between barrels looks like for a product like Benchmark, where they're going for value above all else. What makes Benchmark Bourbon so special⁤ is its remarkable smoothness. ⁣Each sip seamlessly glides ⁤across ‍the palate, leaving a velvety texture that⁤ delights the senses. The carefully⁢ selected blend of corn, ‍barley, and rye creates a ⁤harmonious ‌marriage of flavors, resulting in a⁤ whiskey that‌ is incredibly enjoyable and incredibly smooth.

In August of this year, Buffalo Trace quietly released a revamped lineup of their bottom-shelf staple, Benchmark Bourbon. For years, Benchmark wore no age statement and was watered down to a measly 80 proof. In 2001, Diageo renamed the 8 the McAfee’s Benchmark 8 and released it as it is today: a new recipe, very high in rye, which again Diageo took from Buffalo Trace’s Baptiste. The McAfee’s Benchmark 8 Straight Bourbon employs 100% sourced rye malt. Buffalo Trace produces the bourbon at the same distillery it has been using since 1847: the Buffalo Trace distillery. Benchmark is a good example of a spirit that doesn’t taste like a lot of bourbons. Instead, it has a fruity flavor. Mash Bill & Alcohol Content Bob: I'm going to give it a 5.5/10. I always feel bad giving anything a five or less, just because we so rarely actually go under the halfway mark on our scores, Brad. It's really rare that you get less than a 25/50. If you age a whiskey to four years and put it in a bottle and it gets to us, it's at least a 50/100 most times. Value Brad: For balance, I'll give it a 5/10 as well. It's just average all around and there's not enough complexity and not enough good flavors here to give it any higher of a score.Achieving Perfect Pairings: Unveiling Benchmark’s Ideal Food Combinations Achieving Perfect Pairings: Unveiling Benchmark’s Ideal Food Combinations Nose: Caramel candies straight from the wrapper, orange and cherry scents with vanilla custard. There’s some nice brown sugar sweet scents followed with a volley of tannins that I guess I wasn’t expecting: worn leather and seasoned oak.
